I LOVE supporting local small businesses (and friends) whenever possible! When I found out Casey was starting this business, I knew she would be the person to do my hats from now on!! Check out the new swag from Bows & Brims!!

Casey Loomis Jones also made me a custom hat of my logo. My logo is the combination of a Doberman and a horse in the shape of a heart. When I asked Casey if this was possible, she was REALLY excited about it! It came out better than I imagined and I’m so excited to wear it. The hat is so comfortable too, one of the nicest hats I’ve worn. I can be very picky about how a hat fits and I instantly loved the feel and fit.

She has tons of options, I was able to chose the type of hat, the color of the hat and the mesh, the shape of the leather with my logo on it, and for my personalized one, she gave me different options for the Doberman and horse head!!

It’s with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Isaac the Oxen. I am so honored that I got to spend some of his last days loving him and making him comfortable. He will always have a piece of my heart and goes down as one of the most amazing and gentle giant creatures I’ve ever had the honor of being around.

Sometimes life isn’t fair, but one things for sure, he knew how loved he was. Sending all my love to Kass and Randy. You raised an amazing gentleman.

First picture is the first time I ever worked on him in March of 2019 and then last weekend.

May you have endless pumpkin, oranges and bananas (WITH THE PEEL)! I’ll never forget you, my friend. 💙💙

This big guy has been a “client” of mine since he was under 100 lbs. Now he is almost 25x’s that (if not more)!

To some, he may intimidating but this oxen, Isaac, is the sweetest. He has the personality of a puppy dog and just wants to be pet and loved.

He’s had a rough couple of days, but we were able to give him an hour or so of pure relaxation. He tried to take a nap on my feet and I had to remind him he’s gigantic and his horns are pointy!

I love this big guy!

The hardest part of what I do is watching my customers, who often become great friends, lose their best friends. I never wanted to be a vet because I’ve been told I’m too “soft” when it comes to letting animals go, and I know that about myself. I have a hard time giving people bad news, because I hate seeing people feel defeated when they’ve tried everything they could.

Yesterday, we tried everything we could to make Moonshine comfortable, but it was more than colic. It was unfortunately inevitable due to some other medical conditions.

I realized yesterday, as I sat with his mom and dad, while they learned they had to say goodbye to their best friend of MANY years, that I’m okay with being “soft.” I’d rather have empathy and compassion for people than worry about not crying in front of them. I hugged her and told her how sorry I was and just held her. That’s what she needed and that’s what I can offer. I cried with her and didn’t feel ashamed at all. I feel people’s pain so deeply. If that’s what I’m here for, then that’s what I’ll do. At that moment, it isn’t about anyone but the ones saying goodbye to each other.

This is a tough time of year on our older, sicker animals. If you need a shoulder to lean on during a tough decision, I’m here. It’s more than just a “job.” It’s why I love what I do and never work a day in my life.
