Mount Holly Dairy-Aire Farm

Mount Holly Dairy-Aire Farm Mount Holly Dairy-Aire Farm is a small family farm owned by James and Millicent Johnson, located in Mount Holly, Vermont.

The farm features grass-fed Jersey dairy cows, selling farm fresh raw milk and eggs from cage free chickens. In the summer we raise Jumbo Cornish Cross chickens for meat and Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys for the holidays. Our farm is VTAA inspected and our herd is TB and Brucellosis free.

Although we are still offering daily eggs they are now available for purchase at the house. We are no longer placing them in the milk house refrigerator. Thank you for your continued support. Jim and Millicent

We have sold our cows to Tim Martin of 14th Star Farms. Although we will no longer be offering raw milk under our farm name, Tim will be operating the dairy on our farm premises. We have been very grateful for our loyal customers for the past 30 years and hope that our customers will continue getting milk through Tim's efforts. We will still have eggs available on a daily basis. God Bless and Thank You. Jim and Millicent Johnson of Mount Holly Dairy-Aire Farm.

Scout has two new playmates. Meet Hadassah and Hannah, twin heifers born to Dinah Thursday night. It won't take them long to catch up with Scout's size. Feel free to stop by to meet them. We encourage visitors to the farm.

First snow of the year. The ducks don't seem to mind, there are only a few 'brave' chickens out this morning. Looks like we won't see the grass for a little while today. Glad we are toasty warm with a fire in the furnace

Esther had her first calf yesterday afternoon. It is a bull-named him Gamaliel. We think he is the smallest one we have had this year--even smaller than the twins. Esther did a good job cleaning him up, but was too fidgety for him to nurse, so he is taking to the bottle. Both Esther and Gamaliel are doing well.

Hi, everyone. We finally have access to the farm account again, so will be doing some new postings after a season of quiet from the farm. It has been a rainy summer and it looks like we may be able to get some more hay in after a hiatus of a month and a half of rain. At this point we have about 1/2 of the hay loft full and praying that we have the weather to get in what we will need for the animals for this winter. Glad to be back on-line so we can keep you updated on happenings on the farm. Millicent and Jim

Seven days to meteorologic spring and we are getting dumped on in grand shape with the second snowfall storm in less than two weeks. Attached is a picture of the north side of the chicken house. Warm enough for the eaves to drip, but the wind was so wild today the icicles were bent by it and ended up curved to the side of the house instead of going straight down. 2 points for wind, 0 for gravity. Hope all are safely tucked into their homes with a good book or a movie. For some strange reason the ducks prefer to be out in the weather instead.

FROM OUR FARM KITCHEN TO YOUR TABLE: Swedish Oat Lace Cookies. One of Jim's Swedish cousins sent us a cookbook with a number of yummy looking items. I have been hesitant to try them as the measurements are in mL for dry ingredients and dL for the liquids. Then I discovered that I have a measuring cup from Pampered Chef that has those measurements on it, so decided to start with a simple cookie recipe. They turned out really good. Crisp wafers of buttery delicousness.

FROM OUR FARM KITCHEN TO YOUR TABLE: Up early this morning to make some Swedish Semlor to celebrate Fat Tuesday. These are a sweet bread pastry, flavored with cardamom with an almond paste filling. Here we are putting in the last of the filling which is sweetened whipped cream.
