Here is a little bit about me...
Welcome to the Walks & Wags page! My name is Amanda and I have had a passion for animals for as long as I can remember. When I was a young girl, I remember finding stray cats and dogs. They would usually follow me home and I would beg my parents to let me keep them. Although I wasn’t able to keep all of the animals, as I had a cat of my own, I always made sure that they were nursed back to health before trying to find forever homes for them. Thankfully my parents were very helpful and understanding :) Growing up I was always drawn to animals that I saw while out or while visiting family. The sense of peace and joy that I felt was tremendous. I remember reading as many books as I could in order to learn about animal behavior in both cats and dogs. And majority of my research papers in school were about animals. I even job shadowed at a few veterinarian offices while in high school. This was around the time that I began pet sitting/dog walking the cats and dogs that my family members and family friends had. I really enjoyed doing this and learned a great deal about different dog breeds and behaviors. Soon, my pet sitting and dog walking branched out and I began taking on clients that weren’t family or friends, which is what I am still doing to this day. Four years ago I became a volunteer at the Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS), and walked the shelter dogs weekly. This gave me even more experience with many different dog breeds and personalities. Currently, I am still a volunteer at the shelter, but have moved on to photographing the animals that are up for adoption. I always enjoy my time that I spend at the RCHS.
When I am pet sitting and/or dog walking, I treat every animal like they are my own. I understand how important pets are to their families, and I take my job very seriously.
