Many common household medications can be dangerous—even life-threatening—to pets. Medications such as pain relievers, antidepressants, ADHD medications, and sleep aids should always be stored securely out of reach. A curious nose or accidental spill can quickly become an emergency. Help keep your pets safe by treating all medications as potential toxins and storing them responsibly.

🚨 Every dog owner should know the signs of GDV (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus), commonly known as bloat. This life-threatening emergency can progress rapidly and requires immediate veterinary care.

Signs may include a swollen abdomen, unsuccessful attempts to vomit, pacing, drooling, and restlessness.

The good news? Prevention is possible. Our hospital now offers a prophylactic gastropexy procedure during spay and neuter surgeries to help significantly reduce the risk of stomach twisting later in life.

Grief has no timeline, no “right” way, and no perfect process. 🤍
If you’re navigating pet loss, be gentle with yourself. Some days may feel heavy, some may feel peaceful, and both are okay. The love we have for our pets runs deep, so it makes sense that the grief does too.

This little letter is a reminder to give yourself the same compassion you would give someone you love. Cry when you need to, smile at the memories when they come, and know that healing doesn’t have to look the same for everyone.

However you grieve, however long it takes — your feelings are valid. 🐾

Employee of the Month for May goes to Wendy, our incredible General Office Manager! 🌟 (Photo featuring her lovebug, Chewie)! 💗

To say Wendy is the backbone of our office would still be an understatement. From keeping daily operations running smoothly to making sure every moving part stays on track, she works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the cogs are always turning exactly as they should. Her dedication, reliability, and hard work never go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything she does for our team, our clients, and our patients every single day.

Congratulations, Barbie — this recognition is more than well deserved! 🐾 🧚‍♀️

What an amazing time we had at the First Annual Florham Park Youth Service Day! These young men and women did a lot of good for their community today and learned the power of volunteerism. Today they made 6 blankets for homeless shelters, 100 toiletry kits for women’s shelters, 70 nutritious lunches for kids who don’t have reliable nutrition outside of school, 17 colorful drawings to brighten people’s day, 100 tea time care packages for senior citizens, 52 enrichment toys for the cats in St. Hubert’s Animal Shelter, 18 tug toys for the dogs of St. Hubert’s animal Shelter and did a supply drive for Raptor Trust! So much accomplished today… so proud to support these outstanding young community members! St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center The Raptor Trust Interfaith Food Pantry Jersey Cares Color A Smile

Hi everyone! 🐾

We wanted to let our clients know that Janice will be temporarily unavailable for grooming appointments. In the meantime, if you would like to check grooming availability with Diane, please leave a message with the grooming department and she will get back to you as soon as she is available.

Due to the high volume of grooming requests and limited availability, appointments may be harder to accommodate at this time, and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding while we do our very best to help everyone. 💙

We’ll continue to keep everyone updated and look forward to seeing Janice back again soon. Thank you all so much for your continued support of our grooming team!

May is Osteoarthritis Awareness Month—a reminder that arthritis doesn’t just affect people, it quietly impacts pets of all kinds. From dogs and cats to rabbits and guinea pigs, osteoarthritis can develop subtly, often without obvious limping or vocal signs. Changes like decreased activity, stiffness, difficulty grooming, or hesitation to jump can all be early indicators.

Because our pets can’t tell us when they’re in pain, it’s up to us to recognize the small changes and advocate for their comfort. Early detection and management can make a significant difference in maintaining mobility and quality of life for every species we care for. If you’ve noticed any changes at home, our team is here to help evaluate and support your pet every step of the way. 🐾
