I'm Huckleberry — though my friends call me Mr. Big Head, and trust me, the nickname fits! 🐱 I'm a dashing 3-year-old tuxedo boy with a heart as big as my head, already neutered and ready for adventure. I've got an adventurous spirit and a mischievous side, but what really sets me apart is how affectionate and friendly I am with everyone I meet. My adoption fee is just $35, so come say hello and let this charming tuxedo gentleman steal your heart! ✨

Today has been one of those days that reminds us why we do what we do.

The cherry on top of an already wonderful day is that Gretel has found her forever home after spending 425 days in our shelter. ❤️

We could not be happier for this sweet girl. She waited patiently, charmed everyone she met, and never stopped hoping for a family of her own. Today, that wait finally came to an end.

Congratulations, Gretel! We are so excited for the life ahead of you and grateful to your new family for giving this deserving girl the happy ending she’s been waiting for. 🏡🐾

Happy tails, sweet Gretel. You were worth the wait. ❤️🐾

Why foster?
Some animals don’t do well in a shelter environment because they are frightened or need a little extra care.
Here are just a few animals in the shelter who would benefit in a foster environment!
All of our animals would benefit in a foster enviroment.

If you would like to sign up to be a foster, or just have questions, fill out our questionaire at

We are incredibly grateful to the Duncan Chamber of Commerce Leadership Duncan Class 30 for choosing our organization as the recipient of such a generous donation!

This gift will go directly toward providing care, comfort, and lifesaving resources for the animals entrusted to us here in Stephens County. Every dollar helps us continue our mission and make a difference for homeless pets in our community.

Thank you to Leadership Duncan Class 30 for your compassion, generosity, and commitment to making Stephens County a better place for both people and animals. We are honored by your support and thankful for your caring hearts.

Thanks also to staff, volunteers, fosters and board members who joined us for a celebratory picture today!❤️🐾

Leadership Duncan Class 30 graduated last month but they weren’t quite done. Today, members of the class presented the Stephens County Humane Society of Oklahoma with a check for $8,700. The class worked hard throughout the year, hosting events and fundraisers, to raise the money. The shelter intends to use the funds to upgrade some of the dog runs and are extremely grateful for the contribution. Thank you Class 30 and congratulations on all your hard work!

Luca isn’t just a good dog — he’s a heart dog. 💛

This three-year-old sweetheart is a true shelter favorite, and everyone here is rooting for the special person who will love him as deeply as he’ll love them. Luca is gentle, affectionate, and happiest right by your side. He’s an excellent car rider, lights up for outings, adores trips to Petco, and will never say no to a Pup Cup. He’s the kind of companion who makes ordinary days feel warm and full.

Luca does have sensitive skin that needs lifelong care. He takes a daily dose of Benadryl, will need regular medicated baths, and his ears require routine attention. It’s a simple, manageable routine — and for the right home, a small commitment for a lifetime of devotion.

Everyone at the shelter is protective of this special boy because he deserves a family ready to meet his needs and cherish him fully. In return, you’ll get a loyal, loving companion who will be endlessly grateful.

Luka's adoption fee is $60. Come meet him at the shelter or you can skip the paperwork and apply to adopt online at www.stephenscountyshelter.com!

Come meet Luca at Stephens County Humane Society and see why he’s captured so many hearts.
