🩵 In search of a special home for a special pup 🩵
As many of you may know, I had the amazing opportunity to whelp and raise a litter for my friend, Debra over at Southern Charm Mini Aussies! The two beautiful boys I have raised up for almost 10 weeks now have been nothing short of amazing, and while one is looking like he will be staying with me, we still have a gorgeous blue merle male that will be needing a home. Now, on to why he is considered special…
This handsome fellow was born with micropthalmia, which is a fancy word for an anatomically small eye. He has been seen by two different professionals in the past few weeks(one being a canine optometrist), and while it is confirmed that he is blind in the affected eye, they both have been in agreement that the eye currently poses no issue to the foreseeable future and unfortunately it is just an issue that can happen(commonly in merles according to the specialist). Does he show any issue of being bothered? Nope! Is the other eye affected? Nope! Does he get around great and act like a normal puppy? Yep!
We wanted to wait until he had the for sure green light from the vets overseeing him before looking for his forever home, and we have reached that point! No, a standard cost is not being asked, just a small rehoming fee to ensure that he goes to a committed, loving home. He is on no medications, and the specialist said removing the eye is not necessary right now and would only be for cosmetic purposes. All in all, minus the lack of vision on one side, he is an absolutely amazing, happy puppy who I think would still benefit from an active home! If you think he might be a fit for our beautiful boy, please feel free to message me or Debra for more information!
