Our rescue is facing an urgent financial crisis, and we desperately need your help!

We have recently taken in multiple dogs who needed a second chance, including a beautiful mama dog and her 8 precious puppies! ❤️ That’s 9 more lives we’ve committed to protecting, loving, and giving the opportunity for a brighter future.

While we wouldn’t change a thing about saving these lives, the financial reality is catching up with us.

Our current bills have reached $2,500, and we need help paying them!

We urgently need funds to cover:

🐶 BOARDING: Providing safe shelter for dogs waiting for foster or forever homes.

🚐 TRANSPORTATION: Getting dogs to safety, foster homes, and veterinary appointments.

🩺 VETERINARY CARE: Covering exams, vaccinations, medications, testing, and necessary medical treatments.

Every dog that comes through our doors deserves a chance. That beautiful mama and her 8 babies deserve to grow up safe and loved. Every other dog we’ve taken in deserves the same opportunity.

🚨🐾 PET PARENTS: SOMETHING IN YOUR HOME COULD BE DEADLY TO YOUR DOG! 🐾🚨

We want to take a moment to raise awareness about something that many dog owners don’t realize can be extremely dangerous: XYLITOL.

Xylitol is a sugar substitute found in many everyday household products. While it’s safe for humans, even small amounts can be extremely toxic to dogs, causing dangerously low blood sugar, severe liver damage, and potentially liver failure or death.

💔 This warning hits especially close to home for our rescue family right now.

One of our longtime Furever Friends volunteers is currently experiencing this firsthand. Her beloved dog got into what seemed like a harmless container of chewing gum. What started as an everyday household accident has turned into an emergency veterinary hospitalization, with significantly elevated liver enzymes and ongoing treatment to protect her liver.

Even more frightening? Her dog has continued acting like her normal, happy self despite what her bloodwork is showing. It’s an important reminder that dogs can appear perfectly fine while serious damage is occurring internally.

⚠️ WHERE CAN XYLITOL BE FOUND?

You might be surprised by how many common products can contain it:

🍬 Sugar-free chewing gum, candy, and mints

🥜 Certain brands of peanut butter and other nut butters

🧁 Sugar-free baked goods, desserts, and snacks

🪥 Toothpaste and mouthwash

💊 Certain medications, vitamins, and supplements

🍯 Sugar-free syrups, jams, and other sweetened products

Xylitol may also be listed as “birch sugar” on ingredient labels!

🐶 HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOUR PETS?

✅ ALWAYS check ingredient labels before sharing human food with your pets, especially treats like peanut butter!

✅ Keep gum, medications, candy, and other potentially dangerous items secured and completely out of reach. Remember that dogs can get into purses, backpacks, countertops, and even closed containers.

✅ Never assume something is safe for your dog simply because it’s safe for you.

✅ Know the warning signs, including vomiting, weakness, staggering, lethargy, and seizures.

✅ If you suspect your dog has ingested xylitol, contact an emergency veterinarian or animal poison control IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait for symptoms to appear.

❤️ Our volunteer’s sweet girl is still hospitalized and receiving care, and we’re all hoping for a full recovery.

Accidents can happen even in the most loving and careful homes. The best thing we can do is educate ourselves, take precautions, and spread awareness so that fewer families have to experience something like this.

We are heartbroken at Furever Friends. 💔💔💔The City of Memphis, Texas killed two young dogs, just puppies that we were trying to find a rescue, fosters and/or for. These two cute Boston Terriers did not have a chance. We were NOT notified that it was their last day otherwise we would have surely boarded them to save their adorable lives. We are so sad for those two. RIP Poncho and Lefty. 🪦💔So unnecessary

💕💕 Foster Found!!! URGENT: PREGNANT MAMA FACING EUTHANASIA — EMERGENCY FOSTER NEEDED! 🚨

💔 WELLINGTON, TEXAS — WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW!

This sweet girl has spent OVER A MONTH in a tiny outdoor enclosure, pregnant, alone, and waiting for someone to give her a chance.

The Wellington City Manager has gone above and beyond trying to find her a home. Although the city is only required to hold dogs for 48 hours, he has kept her for more than a month because he couldn’t bring himself to give up on her.

But time has run out. 💔

A euthanasia appointment was being arranged when a veterinarian suggested reaching out to Furever Friends as one last chance to save her life.

Now we’re desperately trying to get her out before it’s too late.

We’re told this girl is an absolute sweetheart. She deserves so much more than giving birth in a tiny kennel, or worse, never getting the chance to bring her puppies into the world.

🐾 WE NEED AN EMERGENCY FOSTER OR RESCUE COMMITMENT ASAP!

She needs a safe, warm place to decompress, receive veterinary care, have her pregnancy confirmed, and eventually welcome her babies if she is indeed expecting.

We are working to coordinate her care, but we cannot save her without somewhere safe for her to go.

FOSTER OR FUREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Maggie 🐾
This sweet little girl is in Paducah and is needing help finding a safe place to land. Maggie is a small shepherd mix, approximately 1 year old, and around 35 lbs.

She gets along well with other dogs and people, and we’re told she is just the sweetest little girl. We don’t know yet how she does with cats.

Maggie deserves a chance at a happy, safe future. If you’re interested in fostering, adopting, or helping us help her, please reach out.

Childress Friends, if you’re free tonight, Monday, October 19th at 6:00 pm, please join us at the Childress City Council meeting. One of the items on a very interesting agenda is a private proposal for the development and construction of a new animal control facility at NO COST to the city!

BOB BARKER IS STILL WAITING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME 🐾❤️
Our sweet Bob Barker is currently being fostered in Dripping Springs, Texas, and the more time he spends in a home, the more we get to see what a genuinely wonderful little dog he is.

Bob is still very much a puppy, but he has such an easy, lovable temperament. He is fantastic with kids, doesn’t jump on people, gets along with other dogs, and is perfectly happy hanging out on the porch watching the world go by. He’ll chew on things like any puppy does, but he isn’t destructive or constantly getting into trouble.

He also sleeps all night in his crate — complete with some impressive snoring 😂 — and settles in beautifully at bedtime. He would do best in a home where he isn’t crated all day, because he really loves being around his people and can bark when he feels lonely.

Bob is still working on his potty training and learning that all bathroom business belongs outside, but he’s making progress every day. He even let his foster trim his nails with no issue. 🥹

He’s also recovering from a skin condition and is doing SO much better. The flaking is gone, his chest is healing nicely, and he’s well on his way to putting that part of his rough start behind him.

Bob came to us underweight and unsure of what life was supposed to look like. Now he knows what it feels like to have regular meals, a cozy crate, kids to love on, dogs to play with, and people who care about him.

What he needs now is the one thing a foster home can’t give him forever: his own family.

If you’re looking for a young, affectionate, social pup with a wonderful temperament who just needs someone to keep showing him the ropes, Bob Barker may be your guy. ❤️

💔 TWO sweet boys. 48 hours. Their lives are on the line.

Poncho and Lefty are currently in Memphis, Texas, and are at risk of euthanasia within the next 48 hours. We are desperately searching for emergency fosters to get these boys somewhere safe before it’s too late.

Neither of these dogs has done anything wrong. They are young, friendly, loving boys who deserve so much more than having their lives cut short simply because they have nowhere to go.
