IMPORTANT UPDATE ON SUSI SOLE'S FOAL

When tragedy strikes, it is often followed by a lot of inaccurate information and rumors. With the sad death of Susi Sole we have been learning some information that has turned out to not be accurate.

Just want you to know that Susi's foal is NOT with a nursing mare. We got our original information from Assateague Island Alliance but they have since changed their post and removed the information that he is with a nursing mare. Mistakes happen and we are sure it was not an intentional misrepresentation of the facts. Additionally, we have spoken with a person in Chincoteague who is very knowledgeable, and they confirmed that the foal is not with a nursing mare.

We have updated our original post to reflect this new information.

We do not know how Chincoteague will be handling his transition to their location, but trust that it will be done with the utmost care.

Horse Body Language: Ears!

Ears are just one way a horse communicates.

Directly forward-facing ears that don't move are alert and possibly listening to something in the distance.
Ears that are forward, but turn easily and independently indicate a happy, attentive horse.
Ears drooped to the sides indicate a sleeping or very relaxed horse.
Ears slightly backwards indicate annoyance or possibly pain.
Ears flat back against the neck indicate extreme anger.

Some of you may be aware, but we have learned that Susi's c**t was removed from the island today and has been taken into the care of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company.

We do not have any other information at this time but wanted to keep you updated. If we learn more information, we will provide it.

We will be moving his gallery into Those No Longer With Us later today. Sure will miss the little guy.
