Because we are a donation based organization, that means our shelves are filled with a variety of flavors, brands and types of pet food. That also means patrons may not receive the exact same food month to month. We recognize the digestive distress this may cause your pet and recommend following a week long introduction when changing their diet.

Here's a sample schedule for changing your pet’s food:
Day 1-2: 75% old food mixed with 25% new food
Day 3-5: 50% old food mixed with 50% new food
Day 6-7: 25% old food mixed with 75% new food
Day 8+: 100% new food

Changing your dog's food should happen gradually. Changing food happens for different reasons, like life stage changes, availability, and your dog's preference.

Looking for a way to give back to your community and support local pets and their parents? You can make a difference by volunteering just a few hours a month!

Founded in 2009, Iowa Lost & Found Pet Alert is a state-wide, free program of The Pet Project, using the power of social media to reunite lost and found pets with their humans. Post your lost or found pet to Iowa Pet Alert and volunteers will share with a network of agencies and social media outlets.

Thank you, All Seasons Veterinary Care for hosting a pet food drive to support out mission - to keep pets in their homes with the people who love them!

It takes a village and we are grateful to have amazing community partners. 350 pounds of food and $50 in donations will definitely make the holidays a little fuller for local pets!
