When we ran into her, we instantly knew her tiny self was a cutie!!!! She loves to swim, and a special talent of hers includes keeping a ball in the air on her nose for 8-10 seconds 😏

Hey everyone, just wanted to send a reminder about the upcoming holiday! We have several options for calming your four legged friends during the fireworks this weekend! We also wanted to let everyone know we will have regular store hours on Monday July 3rd and Wednesday July 5th, but we will be closed on Tuesday July 4th to enjoy the holiday!

PSA - What we can do for our pets as the wildfire smoke continues to blow over parts of the U.S. from Canada, creating dangerous air conditions, experts are warning pet owners about the health problems poor air quality can cause in animals.

The smoke conditions can be especially dangerous for puppies and senior dogs, as well as for brachycephalic breeds — those with shorter snouts — such as pugs, Boston terriers and bulldogs, according to the American Kennel Club. Smoke can be especially tough on pet birds, according to AirNow.gov, a government-run site on air quality data.

Organizations advise keeping your pets inside as much as possible, keeping your windows closed and avoiding long walks and outdoor activities.

If your cat or dog needs to go outside, let them outside for a short period of time, pet organizations advise. Once they're back inside, vets suggest wiping down their fur, especially around their mouths and eyes, to remove ash and smoke particles.

While inside, AirNow suggests not doing anything that would contribute to indoor air pollution, such as burning candles, smoking, vacuuming or frying food.

UPDATE: Ayk has a forever home! He will be staying with the family and living it up on 40 acres with his new fur brother. Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming interest and support in this difficult time! At this time the meet and greet scheduled at our Des Moines location Saturday, January 16 is cancelled. Thanks again everyone!!

Meet Ayk the Shepadoodle! Sadly Ayk's dad, who was a special friend to the Bone-A-Patreat family, passed away recently and now Ayk is in need of a loving home. He is good with kids and other dogs, not sure about cats! Ayk will be at our Des Moines Bone-A-Patreat location (42nd and University) next Saturday, January 16 from 11AM to 12 PM for a visit if you would like to drop by to meet him and get details about his adoption.

‘Tis the season of giving back! Merry Christmas!

Santa's sleigh pulled up with a gift of pet food from Linda Torstenson, who asked her family to forego buying her gifts this year and instead donate bags of adult cat and dog food to our Pantry. Not only did her family donate in a big way but Bone-A-Patreat and Fromm Family Foods also added to the donation. 🎁🎅🤶🎄
