🚨 Pet Owner Scam Alert 🚨
We want to make our community aware of a scam that has recently affected local pet owners.
In multiple recent cases, pet owners who posted online about a lost or missing pet were contacted by someone claiming to have found the animal. The caller then stated that the pet had been seriously injured and required immediate medical care, demanding money be sent or transferred before treatment could proceed.
These calls are scams.
We understand how frightening it can be to have a missing pet, and scammers often take advantage of that fear and urgency. If you receive a call like this:
✔️ Stay calm and ask for specific details about your pet.
✔️ Request the name and location of the veterinary clinic allegedly providing care.
✔️ Contact the clinic directly using a phone number you independently verify.
✔️ Never send money to an unknown individual based solely on a phone call, text message, or social media message.
If a pet is truly receiving emergency veterinary care, a legitimate veterinary clinic will be able to verify that information directly with you.
