June 21st marks the longest day of the year—which makes it the perfect time to celebrate one of the longest pups around… the Dachshund! 🐶💕

These lovable “wiener dogs” are full of personality, loyalty, and charm—and today is all about honoring their unique history, adorable features, and the joy they bring to so many lives. 🐾 From their long, low bodies to their big, bold attitudes, there’s nothing quite like a dachshund!

💡 Did you know?
🔸 Dachshunds were originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers!
🔸 They come in 2 sizes and 3 coat types—smooth, wirehaired, and longhaired.
🔸 Their special day lands on the Summer Solstice because of their famously long bodies! 🌞

🐾 Caught in the act! Meet Tessa, our curious Doberman Pinscher with a heart of gold… and apparently a deep interest in anatomy! 💓🐶

We turned our backs for one second and she was found with her paws on the counter, intently studying our heart models like she’s prepping for vet school. 🩺🧠

Clearly, she’s got big plans — Cardiologist K9 in the making? 🐾👩‍⚕️

🦷🐾 Meet Casper, our brave 18-year-old feline friend who came in for a dental procedure (with multiple extractions too!).

At 18, Casper is a shining example of how senior cats can still thrive with proper care. Dental health is so important—especially for our older pets. Left untreated, dental disease can lead to pain, infections, and even impact organs like the heart and kidneys.

Casper handled his procedure like a champ and is already on the road to a healthier, more comfortable mouth! 😺💪

If your senior kitty has stinky breath, difficulty eating, or just hasn’t had a dental check in a while, give us a call. A little dental love goes a long way—even at 18! ❤️

We had the absolute pleasure of having Donnie, our senior veterinary student, join us for a few days while on break from clinics. It was so great to see him back in action—just one step closer to becoming Dr. Donnie Smith! 🎓🐾

He spent a few days lending a hand (and getting some love) from the lovely Roxanne, our sweet black Lab visitor. 🖤🐶

🐾 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 – Fireworks and celebrations can be stressful for pets. Create a quiet, safe space for them.

Did you know? Instead of sweating to cool down, cats mainly regulate their body temperature through grooming, panting (in extreme cases), and finding cool surfaces to lay on. 😺❄️

This is why it’s important to keep your feline friend hydrated and provide shady, cool spots during warmer months! ☀️💧

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Bailey’s Visit!

Sweet Bailey came in for some care and comfort—she’s been dealing with an ear infection. With a gentle exam, some ear cleaning, and medication, she’s already on the path to feeling much better! 👂✨

Ear infections are common in dogs, especially those with floppy ears or who love to swim. If your pup is shaking their head, scratching at their ears, or seems uncomfortable, don’t wait—give us a call! 🐶
