We believe that working directly with caretakers who are willing to participate in the TNR process helps reduce cat populations over time!

Monday started at the Clermont Mobile Home Park. We saw 3 kittens (mom has been fixed and returned) & humanely trapped two cats that day. Both cats were lactating, so they were returned the same day.

Tuesday, we picked up 7 cats for medical & spay/neuter. All the kittens had fleas and tapeworm. They were all treated in addition to getting fixed. The adult tabby had flea allergy dermatitis, open wounds, and scabs all over his body. We had already provided flea meds, but he went to the vet & got steroids & a long lasting antibiotic. The two little black kittens also had an upper respiratory infection that they were treated for. We’ve given all the adult cats in these two households topical flea meds for the adults, but would like to be able to treat the premises & inside the trailers. Did you know fleas can kill a cat? The small fluffy tabby had anemia due to fleas & was losing weight. The vet recommended all the kittens be on canned kitten food to improve their overall condition (which we provided). We’ve spent countless hours & $825 in this mobile home park. We need your help to continue helping them.

Hendricks County Humane Society

Hendricks County Humane Society (Hendricks Humane) is a not-for-profit 501(c)-3 organization, founded in 1970.

Our programs solely depend on the generosity of our donors; membership drives; fundraising events; bequests and memorial contributions. We do not receive tax money or government assistance. Hendricks Humane is dedicated to “Facilitating Animal Welfare by Being a Voice for the Animals”; our primary purpose is to serve the animals and people living in Hendricks County.

Hendricks Humane is open on Monday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from noon until 4:00 p.m. We employ part-time staff to assist families who are in need of our programs.

While one part of our mission is to care for and foster animals; we are not an animal shelter. The Hendricks County Animal Shelter and Control is located across from Hendricks Regional Hospital on Old US Hwy 36 or East Main Street in Danville. The HCACS is not associated with Hendricks Humane and is funded by taxpayer money. The phone number is 317-745-9250 and should be contacted for any concerns on animals in danger.
