TLC Humane Society, legally recognized as Dahlonega - Lumpkin County Humane Society, was founded in 1977 and is Dahlonega, GA's only no-kill shelter. We are a licensed non-profit 501(c)3 rescue organization and have both dogs and cats available for adoption. The shelter sits on 5.87 acres of beautiful property which includes 3 dog parks, walking trails, a small block house with 2 cat rooms, a kitt

en room, quarantine and isolation runs, plus The Ruff House with 6 dog runs and the 12 dog run Carver Canine Castle for large dogs. As a private, non-profit organization, we are not affiliated with the ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States or Associated Humane Societies. TLC is not a government agency and receives no funding from federal, state or local governments. Our ability to care for the community’s animals is supported solely by adoption fees, donations, grants, bequests, and fundraisers. All contributions are tax-deductible (our federal tax id number is 58-1829089). We do our best to save as many animals as we can, but that's only possible with the help of our community and people like you. We are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to the animals of Lumpkin County and surrounding North Georgia area. We hope everyone had an amazing Father’s Day! 💕👨🐶🐾

Some of you are biological dads, and some of you just ended up as the “dad” by default, keeping an eye on littermates, cage mates, or whoever decided you were the responsible one in the room. Either way, you all show that care doesn’t need an explanation. It just happens.

So here’s to the animal dads: the snack inspectors who never miss a delivery, the nap supervisors who take their job very seriously, the accidental chaos coordinators who somehow didn’t start it but are definitely involved, and the soft-hearted souls behind it all.

Happy Father’s Day, you’re doing great. Now please accept this imaginary treat!

Meet Lorelai, one of the sweetest mama cats we’ve ever had the pleasure of caring for. 😻🙌💕

Lorelai came to us pregnant, scared, and in need of a safe place to land. From the very beginning, she showed us just how gentle, loving, and resilient she is. She has been an incredible mama to her kittens and an absolute joy to everyone who’s met her.

Now that her babies are ready to spread their wings, it’s Lorelai’s turn to be cared for and cherished. She deserves a home filled with love, comfort, and all the affection she so freely gave to her little ones.

Meet Renny! 💕🐶🐾

Renny is one of the sweetest pups we’ve welcomed in a long time. While we don’t know much about his past, it’s clear that he has known love before, and he absolutely thrives on it. Affectionate, gentle, and eager to connect, Renny’s biggest wish is to find a person or family to call his very own.

This happy boy also loves toys, especially when there’s a game of chase involved! Of course, toys are much more fun with people to play with, which is where you come in.

Spend just ten minutes with Renny, and chances are you’ll be completely smitten. If you have kids, even better, because Renny would be thrilled to have some enthusiastic playmates and has plenty of love to share.

Marigold has found her forever home!!! 💕🐶🐾

We swear Marigold got cuter every single day, and we're so thrilled that the perfect family found her so quickly. They brought their dog to meet her, and the connection was instant!

The meet-and-greet went wonderfully, and before long, Marigold was on her way to the loving home she deserves.

We already miss you, Mari, but nothing makes us happier than seeing our dogs start their next chapter with families who adore them. Wishing you a lifetime of love, adventures, belly rubs, and happiness!

Meet Jada! 💕🐶🐾

Jada is the kind of dog who makes an impression the moment you meet her. Sweet, gentle, and incredibly affectionate, she’s looking for what she’s always wanted most: a best friend to call her own.

After spending much of the last few years confined to a crate for long stretches, Jada is thriving now that she has space to stretch her legs, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy the attention she deserves.
