TLC Humane Society, legally recognized as Dahlonega - Lumpkin County Humane Society, was founded in 1977 and is Dahlonega, GA's only no-kill shelter. We are a licensed non-profit 501(c)3 rescue organization and have both dogs and cats available for adoption. The shelter sits on 5.87 acres of beautiful property which includes 3 dog parks, walking trails, a small block house with 2 cat rooms, a kitt

en room, quarantine and isolation runs, plus The Ruff House with 6 dog runs and the 12 dog run Carver Canine Castle for large dogs. As a private, non-profit organization, we are not affiliated with the ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States or Associated Humane Societies. TLC is not a government agency and receives no funding from federal, state or local governments. Our ability to care for the community’s animals is supported solely by adoption fees, donations, grants, bequests, and fundraisers. All contributions are tax-deductible (our federal tax id number is 58-1829089). We do our best to save as many animals as we can, but that's only possible with the help of our community and people like you. We are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to the animals of Lumpkin County and surrounding North Georgia area. Meet Lacy! 🐾💕⭐️

This 11-month-old Yorkie pup is a pint-sized princess with a big heart and an even bigger personality! Lacy is full of playful energy, loves to snuggle, and is basically a walking dose of cuteness overload.

She’s still a puppy, so she’s learning her manners, but she’s smart, eager to please, and picks things up quickly. She's looking for a forever home where she can be spoiledand adored, because let’s be honest, have you seen that face???

If you’ve been waiting for a little shadow to follow you around (and maybe steal your socks), Lacy is your girl!

Lacy's adoption fee is $450, which includes her spay, microchip, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm test (if over 9 months old), and kept up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

Djent and his spunky sister Pop stole our hearts the moment they arrived.

Djent with his curious, thoughtful eyes and Pop with her playful energy and endless purrs. They’ve been inseparable since day one, always tumbling over each other in play and curling up together for naps.

We’re so happy to share that this dynamic duo has found their forever home — together! 🏡✨

Their new family fell head over paws in love and couldn’t imagine separating them (we agree 🥹).

Pongo update!

Pongo was adopted last December, and this sweet Boxer mix is thriving 🐾

He just passed his THIRD training class and is officially on his way to becoming a therapy dog! 🎓

Pongo now has a big backyard to run around in, a toy collection he’s obsessed with, and a passport full of adventures — beach days, boat rides, and long walks at his favorite park 🌊🚤🌳

He’s made tons of pup friends, learned how to howl (cutest thing EVER), and mastered off-leash training like a pro. His fave activities? Peanut butter Kongs + couch cuddles with mom & dad 🧸🥜🐾

📣 Chico’s Happily Ever After 🐾

Remember Chico? Chico is our chow chow mix who waited way too long for his forever home. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was scared, shut down, and was clearly depressed. People walked past his kennel for months. He wasn’t the dog who ran up with tail wags -- he just watched quietly, waiting for someone to see him.

Then someone did. 💛

His foster family saw through the fear and gave him what he needed most: time, patience, and love.

And now? Chico is living his best life! He’s loyal, goofy, protective, sweet and truly the bestest boy.

From scared and silent to safe and snuggly, Chico is proof that every dog deserves a second chance. 🐶

Marlee is currently learning sign language and crushing it with her signature determination. She's a spirited, high-energy girl who’s always ready for fun, cuddles, and some serious play time. 🐶💥

We’re thrilled to share that Bodhi, our energetic and curious Treeing Tennessee Brindle puppy, has found his forever home! 💛

With his striking brindle coat, big personality, and tiny legs, Bodhi captured hearts from the moment he arrived. Full of playful energy, sharp instincts, and an endless sense of wonder, this little explorer was always ready for the next adventure (or nap!).

When Bodhi saw his new owner return for him, his reaction nearly shattered us, but in the most heartwarming way. Now, he’s off to start his next chapter with his new family!

Meet Forest 🌲🐾🐱

Some kittens are born to be house cats, and some make a dramatic entrance—Forest did both. This little black, gray and white beauty literally walked out of the woods and into our hearts. With her soft, silvery fur and those big, curious eyes, she’s the kind of cute that makes you do a double take.

Despite her wild beginnings, Forest is as sweet and social as they come. She’s confident, cuddly, and always ready to play. Whether she’s chasing a toy mouse, climbing your leg, or curling up in your lap for a nap, she does it all with the charm and enthusiasm only a kitten can pull off.

Forest is looking for a forever home where she can explore, play, and love as much as she wants (bonus points if you have a window perch for bird-watching). She’s the perfect mix of spunky and snuggly, and trust us, once you meet her, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without her.

Forest's adoption fee is $180, which includes her spay, microchip, Rabies vaccine, 2 FVRCP vaccines, FIV/FeLV combo test (Forest is negative!) and up to date on flea/tick preventative.

We LOVE getting updates like this! 💌 Tamara and Drew adopted sweet Oliver, a brown tabby, from us back in January of last year—and it sounds like he's truly living his best life! 😻

Tamara says:
“He is truly the sweetest boy ever. We love him SO much! He has been such a great addition to our family. And Oliver loves his brother Ozzie! They love playing together and even snuggling up next to one another.” 🐾💕

Whether you're a dog lover, a cat whisperer, or someone with a little extra space in your heart (and home) for fostering — there’s a role for everyone at TLC.
