TLC Humane Society, legally recognized as Dahlonega - Lumpkin County Humane Society, was founded in 1977 and is Dahlonega, GA's only no-kill shelter. We are a licensed non-profit 501(c)3 rescue organization and have both dogs and cats available for adoption. The shelter sits on 5.87 acres of beautiful property which includes 3 dog parks, walking trails, a small block house with 2 cat rooms, a kitt

en room, quarantine and isolation runs, plus The Ruff House with 6 dog runs and the 12 dog run Carver Canine Castle for large dogs. As a private, non-profit organization, we are not affiliated with the ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States or Associated Humane Societies. TLC is not a government agency and receives no funding from federal, state or local governments. Our ability to care for the community’s animals is supported solely by adoption fees, donations, grants, bequests, and fundraisers. All contributions are tax-deductible (our federal tax id number is 58-1829089). We do our best to save as many animals as we can, but that's only possible with the help of our community and people like you. We are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to the animals of Lumpkin County and surrounding North Georgia area. HI FRIENDS!! It’s me, Pancake, but you can call me Harley because I’m fancy 💕🐶🐾

I just wanted to personally let you all know that I am THRIVING in my new life.

Like, tail-never-stops-wagging thriving.

For Thanksgiving, I went to this MAGICAL place called a “farm.” There were new dogs (10/10 sniff potential), giant weird dogs my human called “horses,” a couple of extremely fast tree-rats (you say squirrels, I say CHASE TARGETS), and possibly… maybe… a frog?? I’m not sure. Something jumped. I respected it.

OH, and the sticks! They’re so big here

Anyway, I’m just SO HAPPY with my person, and I wanted to boop your hearts with that same feeling going into the weekend.

Adoption update: Brady edition! 🐶🐾🐶

Who remembers Brady, the adorable little Cockapoo who found his forever home back in early 2023? Well, look at him now! This sweet fluffball has grown into the handsome, confident young pup you see here, full of personality and clearly living his best life.

His adopter shared that Brady has brought a kind of happiness and motivation that had been hard to find before. On the days that feel heavy, Brady is the one who gets him up and moving. When something seems off, Brady somehow knows, showing up with a toy or a nudge of comfort. This little pup has given his person a renewed sense of purpose, and it’s clear the bond goes both ways. They truly found exactly who they needed in each other.

We love seeing our alumni thriving, and Brady is no exception. Way to grow, buddy!

Pancake has finally found her forever home! 💕🐶🐾

After seeing how quickly her mom was adopted, it seemed unbelievable that such a perfect pup stayed with us as long as she did. Our beautiful and fluffy Pancake always had a way of making everyone feel special. Whenever she was given a meal she would completely ignore it so she could shower you with attention and hop up for kisses. And when she smiled you could feel it spread around the room like an aura of pure sweetness.

It is no surprise that the person who got to know her best was her Doggie Day Out partner, and it did not take long for their bond to grow into one of the sweetest adoptions we have ever witnessed. You can see it in every photo: these two were meant for each other. As much as we will miss her, Pancake, now Harley, is destined to enjoy an amazing life with her best friend.

We could not be happier that you found each other.

• Onions, garlic, chocolate, grapes/raisins, xylitol
• Cooked bones (choking risk)
• Raw dough (dangerous as it rises)
