TLC Humane Society, legally recognized as Dahlonega - Lumpkin County Humane Society, was founded in 1977 and is Dahlonega, GA's only no-kill shelter. We are a licensed non-profit 501(c)3 rescue organization and have both dogs and cats available for adoption. The shelter sits on 5.87 acres of beautiful property which includes 3 dog parks, walking trails, a small block house with 2 cat rooms, a kitten room, quarantine and isolation runs, plus The Ruff House with 6 dog runs and the 12 dog run Carver Canine Castle for large dogs. As a private, non-profit organization, we are not affiliated with the ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States or Associated Humane Societies. TLC is not a government agency and receives no funding from federal, state or local governments. Our ability to care for the community’s animals is supported solely by adoption fees, donations, grants, bequests, and fundraisers. All contributions are tax-deductible (our federal tax id number is 58-1829089). We do our best to save as many animals as we can, but that's only possible with the help of our community and people like you. We are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to the animals of Lumpkin County and surrounding North Georgia area. Not surprisingly, we’re pretty obsessed with dogs and cats around here. 💞🐶😽🐾

We met so many beautiful animals at BITP this year that we could have happily spent the entire event just taking photos of them all!

And getting to see some of the dogs we’ve helped find homes over the years? That’s the kind of joy that never gets old (and honestly, should probably be illegal to enjoy this much).

A huge thank you to everyone who brought their pups by to say hello, and to all the new friends who stopped to spend some time with the dogs we brought along! We had an absolutely wonderful time, loved every minute of it, and are already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Meet Pumpkin Spice Latte! 🎃🧉☕

Pumpkin Spice Latte (Pumpkin for short!) is one gorgeous girl with a coat as unique as her name! She’s a beautiful blend of gray tabby, orange, and white, making her a one-of-a-kind beauty. With her eye-catching mix of colors and patterns, she’s sure to stand out in a crowd!

But Pumpkin is more than just a pretty face. She loves her people and her feline churros, and she has plenty of love to give to those lucky enough to be in her inner circle. She can be a little shy when you first meet her, but give her some time to warm up, and you’ll discover just how special she is. Once Pumpkin decides you’re her person, she REALLY means it!

This sweet girl is looking for a forever home where she can feel safe, loved, and cherished for the wonderful kitty she is. If you’re ready for a little pumpkin spice in your life, Pumpkin might just be the perfect addition to your family!

Pumpkin's adoption fee is $180, which includes her spay, microchip, Rabies vaccine, 2 FVRCP vaccines, FIV/FeLV combo test (Pumpkin is negative!) and up to date on flea/tick preventative.

🐾 A Heartfelt Thank You from Our President 🐾

As we wrap up another incredible Bark in the Park, I want to take a moment to personally thank everyone who helped make our this year's event such a success.

I'm so excited to share that we raised over $35,000 for the animals of TLC Humane Society!

Events like Bark in the Park don't happen without an incredible amount of time, effort, and generosity from so many people. To our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, attendees, and everyone who contributed in ways big and small, please know how much your support means to me and to TLC.

Animal rescue is incredibly rewarding, but it isn't always easy. There are difficult days, unexpected challenges, and never-ending needs. But then there are moments like this that remind me just how special our community is and how much we can accomplish when we come together for a cause we believe in.

As we look ahead to another year, I know there will be more animals who need us and more challenges to face. But because of people like you, we can continue moving forward with hope, knowing we have an amazing community standing behind us.

I am incredibly proud of what we've accomplished together and even more grateful for the people who make it all possible.
