TLC Humane Society, legally recognized as Dahlonega - Lumpkin County Humane Society, was founded in 1977 and is Dahlonega, GA's only no-kill shelter. We are a licensed non-profit 501(c)3 rescue organization and have both dogs and cats available for adoption. The shelter sits on 5.87 acres of beautiful property which includes 3 dog parks, walking trails, a small block house with 2 cat rooms, a kitt

en room, quarantine and isolation runs, plus The Ruff House with 6 dog runs and the 12 dog run Carver Canine Castle for large dogs. As a private, non-profit organization, we are not affiliated with the ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States or Associated Humane Societies. TLC is not a government agency and receives no funding from federal, state or local governments. Our ability to care for the community’s animals is supported solely by adoption fees, donations, grants, bequests, and fundraisers. All contributions are tax-deductible (our federal tax id number is 58-1829089). We do our best to save as many animals as we can, but that's only possible with the help of our community and people like you. We are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to the animals of Lumpkin County and surrounding North Georgia area. Pasha (formerly known as Cloud) and his beautiful sister, Meisha, wanted to stop by and let everyone know that he is absolutely amazing in his new home! Since being adopted, Pasha has been loving life with his new family and is happier than ever. ❤️

Brightheart has been adopted! 💕🐱🐾

And honestly, we don’t think he could have found a more perfect person!

A longtime friend of the shelter, and one of our amazing board members, has decided that Brightheart is her guy and will be the lucky one to spend all his many playful days with her!

Their first meeting was absolutely hilarious. She sat down, and within seconds, Brightheart had climbed right into her lap, looking around at everyone as if to say, “Yep. This is my person. SIGN THE PAPERS!” 😂

We’re so incredibly happy for Brightheart, and even more fortunate that we’ll still get to hear about all his antics and adventures with his new family. We have a feeling he’s going to keep everyone very entertained!

Congratulations, Brightheart! You found your person. 🏡

We want to give a huge thank you to our friends at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Atlanta for putting together and sharing the most absolutely wonderful assortment of gifts, and not just for our dogs and cats, but for our incredible Doggie Day Out volunteers, too! 🐶🌞🏕

These goodies exceeded all of our expectations in both cuteness and usefulness.

What a thoughtful, generous, and completely delightful surprise!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! 💕 We are so grateful for your kindness and for thinking of our animals and the amazing people who care for them.

And if you EVER want to do something like this again, we would absolutely LOVE it! 🐾❤️

Storm has found her forever home!!! 💕⛈🐾

One of the most wonderful (and occasionally heartbreaking) parts of what we do is getting to spend time with so many cute, special pups before someone else falls in love with them and takes them home forever, which is, of course, exactly what we hope for.

That doesn’t always make saying goodbye easy.

Not a single person who worked with our little Stormy would disagree that watching her hop away with her wonderful new family was a very bittersweet moment. We had all played the “what if I just adopted her myself?” game at least once. 😂

Storm is perfect, and thankfully, so is her new family. We couldn’t be happier for her and are so excited that she’s found the people she was meant to belong to.

Now we’ll just cross our fingers that we’re lucky enough to run into Stormy and her family at the park or somewhere out and about someday.

Have the most perfect life, Stormy. You’ll always have a little piece of our hearts. ⛈🐾

Happy Friday! 💛 Today’s post is for a dear friend who is desperately trying to find the perfect home for her very special cat. This sweet girl needs individualized attention and care that, unfortunately, we aren’t able to provide.

Please read her story below and you’ll quickly understand why finding the right home for her is so important.

🐾 Meet Pip! A very special girl looking for her person. 🐾

Pip is a 9-year-old spayed, vaccinated lap cat with a huge personality and even bigger heart. She loves being with her people—whether she's curled up in your lap, following you around the house, sleeping beside you, or chatting away to tell you exactly what she wants.

She’s playful, affectionate, loves catnip toys, salmon treats, and still gets kitten-like zoomies! She would also love a home with safe access to the outdoors, such as a catio or screened window.

Pip does have feline asthma, which is managed with a maintenance inhaler every other day. She handles her treatments very well with a few cheek scratches and treats afterward. She also has a rescue inhaler available in case of an emergency.

Pip is an incredibly loving cat, but her ongoing medical needs and need for individualized care are unfortunately more than we are currently equipped to provide. We’re hoping to help find her a committed adopter or rescue placement who can give her the care, consistency, and love she deserves.

If you or someone you know has experience with special-needs cats and might be the right fit for Pip, please reach out. She has so much love to give and is waiting for someone to give her a chance.

Cloud has been adopted! 💕💭🐾

Our sweet, sweet child of perpetual motion has officially found his forever home!

Cloud met his new family about a week ago, when he was still recovering from surgery and sporting the cone that had haunted him for two whole weeks. But none of that mattered one bit. His true, goofy self shone right through the discomfort, and he was absolutely thrilled to meet his new family, and his new older sister.

It was clear from the start that Cloud had found his people. We couldn’t be happier for our endlessly energetic, endlessly lovable boy as he begins this next chapter surrounded by a family of his very own.

Meet Tawnypelt! 💕😻🐾

Tawnypelt is named after a beloved character from the Warrior Cats book series, and it’s hard to imagine a more fitting name for this adventurous little girl.

Tawnypelt arrived at the party a little later than her brothers and sisters, but they were more than happy to welcome her into the fold after a couple of days of intense sniffing and cautious paw-lifting. Through it all, Tawnypelt remained completely undeterred, and she has already proven herself to be every bit as brave, sweet, and lovable as her siblings.

She’s also quite the adventurer! Tawnypelt loves climbing, exploring, and investigating every nook and cranny she can reach. Once she’s finished her rounds, though, she’s more than happy to curl up with her favorite people for a much-needed nap.
With her fearless spirit, sweet nature, and curious personality, we think Tawnypelt would make an exceptional addition to just about any family!

Tawnypelt's adoption fee is $180, which includes her spay, microchip, Rabies vaccine, 2 FVRCP vaccines, FIV/FeLV combo test (Tawnypelt is negative!) and up to date on flea/tick preventative.
