12/26/2025
12/26 Friday Well Christmas day in Dahlonega was very busy and a lot of people came out to enjoy the ride and city.
HEADS UP FOR THE REMAINING OF THE YEAR.
The weather for tonight and Saturday night looks good and we will be on the square with the carriages. However Sunday is looking iffy and Monday and Tuesday (our last scheduled days) is most likely a NO! High winds and below freezing temperatures will shut us down.
So if you want to take advantage of the last of the carriage rides on the square then I can only promise the tonight and tomorrow night might be it.
====================================
Tonight and Saturday night and all the way through Tuesday, Dec. 30th, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM +-
$20 per adult, and $10 per child under 12 years of age (no charge for infants). Due to the long lines, there are No private rides.
Please read through them to be informed of our guidelines so that you can have the best experience.
===========================================
--------------------------------------------
1) Do you take reservations for carriage rides in town?
No. Due to high demand and volume of people, there is no way to track individuals or guarantee a specific time. ALL CARRIAGE RIDES ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.
• Can I book a private ride?
NO, NOT IN DOWNTOWN DAHLONEGA.
However, we offer private carriage rides at our stables, Dahlonega Carriage and Horse Rides, approximately 15 minutes from Dahlonega. Call or contact us online for availability. 706-937-9395. https://dahlonegacarriageandhorsebackrides.com/
The cost is $65 plus tax & gratuity for a 30-minute ride. We can accommodate up to 4 adults or a family of 6. We are located at Forrest Hills Mountain Resort. https://forresthillsresort.com/
-------------------------------------------
2) What is the cost of a carriage ride?
$20 per adult, and $10 per child under 12 years of age (no charge for infants).
--------------------------------------------
3) What payment is accepted?
Cash only.
(We are working on Venmo )
( Side note: If your driver does a good job please feel free to tip them as they put in long hard days in all kinds of weather, and you can only imagine the skill it takes to drive a team of horses through these crowded streets. )
-------------------------------------------
4) When should I get in line to await a carriage ride?
Lines are shortest during daylight; once it gets darker and the Christmas lights become more visible, everyone starts lining up; therefore, it is wise to be in line prior to sunset to be ahead of crowds. Long lines equate to approximately a 45 minute to 1 ½ hour wait. Keep in mind lines typically move quickly when we have multiple carriages working.
--------------------------------------
5) When will the carriages be in town?
Beginning Friday, November 29th
--------------------------------------
6) What is the carriage schedule?
Our tentative schedule is as follows:
Black Friday Nov. 28th through Sunday, Nov. 30th, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Closed: Monday Dec.1st and Tuesday Dec.2nd
Wednesday, Dec 3rd through – Sunday, Dec. 7th, 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Closed on Monday and Tuesday Dec.15th and Dec.16th.
Wednesday, Dec. 17th and the way through Tuesday, Dec. 30th, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
***(excluding Christmas day, the 25th).
*** Please note: We will not be in town on New Years Eve due to not putting the horses around all the fireworks.
• All days and times listed are tentative due to unforeseen weather conditions or other conditions/issues that may be out of our control.
------------------------------------
• Although lines close at 9:00 PM, we will do our best to accommodate all who were in line prior to closing. Generally, long lines mean carriages are in town later than the listed times, and short lines mean we shut down on time (or earlier) … it is all based on demand and weather conditions.
-----------------------------------
7) Where should I go to get in line?
Loading locations will be in front of 19 North Seafood Restaurant and Grateful Days (located on N Chestatee Street).
----------------------------------------
8 ) Is my dog allowed to ride on the carriage?
Typically, yes. Non-aggressive “lap” dogs are allowed. Non-aggressive larger dogs are allowed; however, if they take up seat space, owners will be required to pay the child cost of a ride ($10). For safety reasons, it is always a good idea to ask your carriage driver before bringing your pet onto the carriage. We are not liable if “Fido” decides to nip someone or jump off the carriage. Bringing your pet along is at your own risk.
----------------------------------------
9) How many people can get on the carriage?
We have different size carriages that will hold between 6 and 10 passengers.
--------------------------------------
10) Can I ride in the carriage of my choice?
All carriages are first come, first served, and loaded in the order in which they pull up to the curb. However, if you are willing to wait in line for a specific carriage, such as the Cinderella carriage, just ask the driver when he/she will be back around with it.
-------------------------------------
11) How long is the carriage ride?
Typically, rides last anywhere from 12-15 minutes, depending on how heavy the traffic is that we must merge with.
-------------------------------------
12) How will I know if the carriages will be in town on a specific day?
Because weather conditions and other issues could prevent us from being in town, we will post a schedule and information each day here on our FB web page. Although we attempt to post changes as early in the day as possible, check the page often for updates.
