🪣 Tips for keeping your horse hydrated:

💧 Always have fresh, clean water available
🧊 Keep water as cool as possible
🍋‍🟩 Mix in tasty electrolyte powders to their water (or add to their feed)

-> Remember, horses should be drinking upwards of 10-20 gallons of water per day, depending on their size

In the hotter months it is especially important to keep your horse cool and hydrated. Talk to your vet if you have any concerns or questions about your horse's water intake!

If flies seem to take over every summer, you're not alone. The good news? Effective fly control starts long before you reach for the fly spray.

Here are a few simple ways to help keep your barn more comfortable for horses and humans alike:

🪰 Remove manure daily
🪰 Eliminate standing water and fix leaks
🪰 Improve airflow with fans and ventilation
🪰 Use fly predators throughout fly season
🪰 Place fly traps strategically and away from horses
🪰 Keep manure piles away from the barn areas

The biggest secret to fly control? Consistency. A few minutes each day spent reducing breeding areas can make a huge difference in fly populations throughout the season.

Ever wonder why they’re called the withers? 🐴

The name comes from the old English word withered, meaning “against the wind” or “resistance.” Fitting, since the withers are the highest point of a horse’s back and help stabilize movement and support the neck and shoulders.

They’re also super important for saddle fit, balance, and measuring a horse’s height. So while they may just look like a bony ridge behind the mane, the withers are kind of the horse’s architectural keystone.
