Part 16 - the last of the September flowers and the first hint of Fall at the farmstand. The dahlias really hit peak during this period and were absolute work horses, pushing out a plethora of some of the prettiest flowers I think I’ve ever grown, it has been such a rewarding comeback season for us diving back into flower farming. This week I made a custom arrangement for a recital, one of my favorite color palettes to date. Those fall colors are just so scrumptious. We had so many gorgeous arrangements go out to the stand and a couple of our gorgeous homegrown pumpkin dried coral centerpieces. Which are perfect Fall decor for your Thanksgiving Celebration. 🎃🌸

Our 9th Birth of our 2026 kidding season was Crazychick Farm Bella Pixie x Lucy’s ladybug Moody Blues *B. Pixie gave birth on September 9th, 2026 with complete ease right at the end of the work day. By 6:15 pm, baby was completely cleaned off and already trying to nurse. This is Pixies second freshening and it’s the first time she’s given us a doeling. So yes, of course, she is all mine. We absolutely love Pixies genetics, the lovely characteristics of her udder, and her high performance in the milk pail. Paired with our prized buck Blue who has given us many incredible daughters, we have high hopes for this doeling and what she will grow up to be.

We are winding down this Kidding Season as we had our first kid leave to his new farm yesterday (Mr.Dash). However I’ve gotten many messages asking, and yes we still have a few kids who are looking for their forever homes, they are strong, healthy, and incredibly beautiful animals that will do so many lovely things for your herd. I’ll do my best to post more about them this week, and apologies for the delay in showcasing them. Gearing up for the holiday season is always a crazy time here as a small business owner, none the less, we are so grateful for your patience, and continued support for all our endeavors. We work so hard and hope that you feel the love we put into all that we do here on the farm. ❤️

Finishing up another successful kidding season on our micro-farm ❤️ Everyone has officially given birth, and we are so thankful for so many beautiful healthy kids born this year. We are so excited for the wonderful farms they will be joining & the great lives they will live! And can’t help but be very excited for all the kids we’ve chosen to retain for our own breeding program.

We have been selective breeding some of the best Nigerian Dwarf genetics for 6+ years and are so proud of the stunning prodigy that is coming out of our herd now.

Part 15 - end of September harvest, the dahlias are stealing the show now. 3 giant buckets of dahlias, many varieties blooming for the first time in the garden that week. I had so many favorites I had to share. Others like zinnias, celosia, globe amaranth are all starting to pull back a bit. We also had a bunch of those gorgeous white cosmos bloom for the first time and they have been so whimsy in arrangements, I just wish they had a better vase life and were not so prone to stress. We had our last big harvest of peppers which we bagged up and put out at the stand, along with some of the prettiest arrangements yet.. lastly we were able to get some giant heirloom watermelon out at the stand, and I think they not only intimidated people but also just confused people. 😂 They look like giant cucumbers lol! But they have the sweetest meat and are SEEDED YALL, 🙌 you know we kept quite a few for next years garden. Likely how the Art Combe Ancient watermelon is still around today… just thousands of years of one farmer, saving at least one seed for the next years crop, whether it came or not.. ❤️🍉

The 8th birth of our 2026 kidding season was Kamikaze, and I believe she’s a 2nd or 3rd freshener but it’s the first time she’s freshened on our farm. Kam went into labor fast and furious on August 25th around half past 7 in the evening. One minute she was in pre-labor and the next she’s dropping an assure mucus plug and already starting to push. However, the eager start caused her first kid out - her doeling, to get pushed into the birthing canal before she could get into the correct position. Her head slightly tucked back and down, I needed to reposition her and apply some traction during Kam’s contractions to help deliver the baby and not risk losing her. After the repositioning she pretty much came right out after a couple more pushes and then her buckling was delivered without assistance shortly after. I just have to say that watching myself back to recap this birthing really put into perspective how much I’ve learned and how far I’ve come in the 6 years we have been breeding goats. In the beginning, we had many births that did not go as planned and I could not keep my cool during a single one of them. So much chaos during there times and it’s only through experiencing so many births now and having two really great veterinarians who have been so gracious to want to teach and mentor me which has grown my confidence and knowledge far past what I would have been able to do on my own. It’s feels rewarding to witness for yourself your evolution and growth and how you are now the one who reassures those worried in times of chaos. Full circle yall, full circle!
