Update on Hazel! She has been spending some time in our rehabilitation facility working hard to build strength and muscle after everything she’s been through. We’re so excited to share that she has gained 14 pounds since our last update!🎉

This sweet girl is Cricket! She is 13 years young and has been coming in for physical therapy and acupuncture. We also have been doing E-stim to help with pain and discomfort! We use the TENS settings for her because it sends low-level currents to nerves to block pain signals from reaching the brain. She LOVES it!

We can also use the machine on the EMS setting which helps with muscle growth as it sends impulses to muscles to make them contract which is great for patients recovering from orthopedic or neurological surgery.

This is just another way we can help our patients feel better! ♥️🐾♥️

So we wanted to share this sweet girl named Hazel’s road to recovery . She was found by a police officer & Dr. Putt made a very late night road trip to Chicago to get this girl . She was 32 # and should be likely 60 #. She couldn’t lift her head or even walk a week ago . She has had intensive veterinary care by all of the staff here at Commerce Village Veterinary Hospital . It truly has been a team effort ❤️. She had an emergency endoscopic procedure to remove copper wire , a penny , hair ties , plastic pieces & multiple McDonalds food wrappers from her stomach last week . Because she is so emaciated we had to be cautious about “refeeding syndrome “ & monitor her feedings very closely . We will keep you posted on her recovery ! We wish we knew her true story to tell … but through it all she is a kind dog with a soft heart & beautiful hazel eyes🥰
