We are so excited to welcome Dr. Liz Ohl to the PAWS team!

Dr. Ohl was born and raised in Alexandria, Ohio. Growing up on a small cattle farm, she developed a passion for animals early on while showing pigs and rabbits in 4-H. A proud double Buckeye, she attended The Ohio State University for both her undergraduate degree in Animal Sciences and veterinary school (Go Bucks!).

Dr. Ohl loves the excitement and challenge of fast-paced medicine and has a special fascination with all things neurology. When she’s not caring for her patients, you can find her playing sand volleyball, cheering on her favorite sports teams, lifting weights, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, skydiving, getting lost in a good book, or playing the piano.

She calls Columbus home with her two cats, Venus and Juno, who keep her on her toes and remind her daily that cats truly do run the household. Dr. Ohl is passionate about combining her love for animals, medicine, and lifelong learning to provide the best care possible for her patients and their families. She is excited to be part of the Columbus veterinary community and can’t wait to meet all the amazing pets (and their humans!) along the way.

Louie was up past his bedtime and just couldn’t stay awake any longer. 💤💤 We saw Louie for limping after his Great Dane brother accidentally stepped on him. Fortunately, he had no broken bones so we treated him for a soft tissue injury. Needless to say, Louie quickly became a fan favorite 😘

Heat stroke happens faster than you think!! Please be careful with your pets during the extremely high temps this week! Especially with brachycephalic (frenchies, Bostons, pugs), overweight, and thick-coated dogs.

The statistics report that heatstroke patients have a 50% chance of survival. Immediate and aggressive intervention is necessary if you suspect your pet is developing heatstroke.

Little miss Pepper managed to swallow her mom’s entire earring (we can only imagine how bad that felt going down). We took her to surgery to remove the earring from her stomach and she was a little trooper! She is home and recovered! 😻😻
