🐾 Meet the Staff: Veterinary Assistant Amanda! 🐾

Say hello to Amanda, who has been part of the Colonial Animal Hospital family for almost 4 years! ❤️

A Freehold, NJ native, Amanda grew up in a family of animal lovers and has been working in the veterinary field for an impressive 16 years! 🐶🐱

Amanda loves helping pet owners by answering their questions, caring for our patients, and spending her days alongside her amazing coworkers. She also has a special place in her heart for grumpy and feral cats — the feistier, the better! 😼💕

When she's not at the hospital, you can find Amanda hiking with her dogs, Cricket and Roach, or curled up with a good book and her cats, Quasi and Gemma Mae. 📚🐾

We're so lucky to have Amanda as part of our Colonial family! Help us show her some love in the comments! ❤️

🐾 Meet Veterinary Assistant Briana! 🐾

Briana grew up in Long Branch, NJ, and has been working in veterinary medicine for almost five years! Her love for animals started at a young age, but it was her childhood Beagle mix, Bela, who inspired her to pursue a career helping pets. 💙
Today, Briana has two pets of her own—a Pittie mix named Princess 👑 and Remy, a mischievous cat who always keeps her on her toes! 🐶🐱 One of Briana’s favorite things about being part of the CAH team is the people she gets to work alongside. 💬 “There’s a great work environment here, and I love learning from all of my co-workers. Everyone is supportive and kind.”
When she’s not caring for our patients, Briana enjoys spending time with her family and exploring new places.
We’re so happy to have Briana as part of our team! 💙🐾

🐾💙 Happy Veterinary Technician Week! 💙🐾

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible veterinary team who are at the heart of everything we do!

Our technicians wear so many hats every single day. They are anesthetists, phlebotomists, dental assistants, radiology technicians, laboratory technicians, surgical assistants, patient advocates, educators, comfort-givers, and so much more. 🩺🐶🐱

They’re there to hold a nervous paw, monitor a patient through surgery, comfort a pet waking up from anesthesia, answer questions, run lab work, take X-rays, assist during emergencies, and give every patient the compassion and attention they deserve.

Veterinary medicine simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedication, skill, patience, and heart of our amazing team. 💙

Please join us in saying a HUGE THANK YOU to our veterinary technicians for everything they do for our patients, clients, doctors, and team—not just this week, but every day!

🎉 Happy Veterinary Technician Week! 🎉

🌞 Heat Warning: Keep Your Pets Safe! 🐾🥵
The temperatures are rising, and it's important to remember that our pets can overheat much faster than we do.
Here are a few ways to help keep your furry family members safe: 🐶 Walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening. 🌳 Stick to shady areas and always bring fresh water. 🐾 Check the pavement with the back of your hand—if it's too hot for you to hold for 7 seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws. 🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become life-threatening very quickly. 🏡 Keep pets indoors during the hottest part of the day whenever possible.
⚠️ Signs of heatstroke include: • Excessive panting • Drooling • Bright red or pale gums • Weakness or collapse • Vomiting or diarrhea • Confusion or seizures
If you think your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water, apply cool water to their body, and seek veterinary care immediately.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and give your pets a little extra TLC during this heat wave! ❤️🐕🐈
