🩺 That's a Wrap on NY Vet 2026! 🗽

We had a fantastic time at the New York Vet Show at the Javits Center in NYC on Thursday and Friday October 29th and 30th.

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital was proud to join our fellow Ethos Veterinary Health hospitals for an exciting event filled with education, innovation, networking, and a shared passion for advancing veterinary medicine.

It was wonderful connecting with veterinary professionals from near and far, catching up with familiar faces, making new connections, and sharing all that RBVH has to offer as a specialty and emergency veterinary hospital. A highlight was our very own, Valerie Garuccio, BS,CVT,VTS(ECC), Learning and Development Manager, presenting 3 lectures on Friday.

Events like NY Vet remind us just how incredible the veterinary community is and how much we can accomplish through collaboration, continuing education, and strong relationships.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to say hello! We loved seeing you and look forward to continuing those connections long after the convention ends.🐾💙

A huge thank you to everyone who voted, cheered on their favorites, and helped make this year's contest so much fun!

And of course, a special shoutout to our amazing RBVH staff members who dressed up their pets and shared their creativity, Halloween spirit, and ridiculously adorable companions with us!

While only one pet can take home the crown, we think they're all winners!

🎃 HAPPY HOWL-O-WEEN FROM RBVH! 👻

Wishing all of our furry friends and their families a spook-tacular Halloween filled with treats, tricks, and just the right amount of fright!

Before you head out for some Halloween fun, here are a few reminders to keep your four-legged family members safe:

🍫 Keep the candy for the humans! Chocolate, xylitol (found in some sugar-free candies), and raisins can be dangerous or even deadly to pets. Keep those trick-or-treat bags out of paws' reach!

🎃 Watch those decorations! Glow sticks, electrical cords, candles, and even festive decorations can pose hazards to curious pets. Battery-operated candles are a safer choice!

🚪 Beware of the disappearing act! With trick-or-treaters coming and going, make sure your pets are safely secured indoors and wearing proper identification.

👻 Costumes should be cute, not stressful! If your pet isn't a fan of dressing up, skip the costume! If they do participate, make sure they can move, breathe, and see comfortably.

🔔 Ding-dong overload! Doorbells, costumes, and excited visitors can be overwhelming. Give anxious pets a quiet, comfortable space away from the festivities.

Whether your pet gets into the Halloween candy, has an unfortunate encounter with a decoration, or experiences another unexpected emergency, Red Bank Veterinary Hospital is here for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Even on the most haunted of Halloweens!

🐱Happy National Cat Day from Red Bank Veterinary Hospital! 🐱

Today, we're celebrating the tiny dictators, professional nap-takers, biscuit-making experts, and furry (and not-so-furry!) little creatures who have completely stolen our hearts!

Here at RBVH, we spend our days caring for animals, but when we head home, many of us answer to a different kind of boss... OUR CATS!

In honor of National Cat Day, we've put together a special slideshow featuring some of the fabulous felines who rule the homes (and hearts!) of our RBVH team members! From mischievous troublemakers and snuggly sweethearts to those who simply tolerate our existence, these kitties are living their very best nine lives!

🌊Living a Spirited Life!!🌊

Meet Spirit a 10-year-old male Golden Retriever that developed a small bump inside his right nostril during the summer. After a workup at our Hillsborough location, he was referred to our RBVH surgery service when a Squamous Cell Carcinoma was diagnosed.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most common tumor of the nasal planum in dogs and cats, which is the external part of the nose that you like to ‘Boop!’ It is a locally invasive tumor that has a high recurrence rate, therefore our primary goal is to achieve clean and wide surgical margins if the patient is a candidate.

Dr. Heather Baginski, one of our board-certified surgeons, met with Spirit and his family. After an exam and reviewing his CT scan, she determined he was a great candidate for a surgery called a nasal planectomy, also known as a ‘nosectomy.’ Given the nature of this specialized surgery, it is very important to council pet owners preoperatively regarding expectations, since it drastically changes how the pet will look. Fortunately, it does not affect the pet’s ability to breathe and their quality of life can be excellent long-term.

Spirit’s family trusted their decision, RBVH, and Dr. Baginski throughout the process. His surgery was successful and achieved clean margins. In fact, Spirit celebrated his 10th birthday in September. They shared, “We are so happy with the outcome of his surgery and are extremely grateful to Dr. Baginski for making it possible for Spirit to reach this milestone birthday! Not only is he cancer free, but he’s also undeniably adorable with his new nose! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We are so happy for Spirit and his family and hope he continues swimming through his best life. 💙

🐾 THREE DOGS. TWO EMERGENCIES. ONE VERY EVENTFUL DAY! 🐾

When it rains, it pours… especially when you have three mischievous pups at home! 🐶🐶🐶

Meet Daisy, Penny, and Rigby, a trio who certainly kept our Emergency Department on its toes!

It all started when Daisy (pictured in the middle) arrived at RBVH with an esophageal foreign body, that required emergency veterinary attention. An esophageal foreign body is any ingested item that fails to pass into the stomach after being swallowed.

While Daisy's family was at the hospital getting her the care she needed, her two partners in crime, Penny and Rigby, decided it was the perfect opportunity to help themselves to some chocolate! Hey, why let Daisy have all the fun?

That's right… one family, three dogs, and two separate veterinary emergencies in the same day!

Thankfully, while Daisy received the veterinary care she needed for her foreign body, Penny and Rigby were brought in quickly enough for our Emergency team to safely induce vomiting and remove the chocolate from their stomachs.

The takeaway? Pets have an incredible knack for getting into trouble, sometimes all at once! Chocolate is toxic to dogs, and esophageal foreign bodies can be serious emergencies. Quick veterinary intervention can make all the difference.

We're happy our Emergency team, led by Dr. Albert George, could be there for all three members of this adorable family!

At RBVH, we're here for your pets 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even when they decide to coordinate their chaos! With Halloween coming up this weekend this story is also a perfect reminder to keep that candy in a safe space away from pets.🐾💚

📚🩺 Meet Our VTS Series Week 4: Bernie Dziedzic, VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia)! 🩺📚

As we continue celebrating our incredible Veterinary Technician Specialists at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, we're proud to introduce Bernie Dziedzic, who has dedicated 20 years to veterinary medicine, including 17 right here at RBVH!

Bernie's journey began at Columbus State Community College, where Bernie graduated as Valedictorian of the Veterinary Technology program in 2006. With a passion for the science behind veterinary medicine and a particular fascination with the complexities of anesthesia, Bernie continued pursuing advanced knowledge and expertise, ultimately earning the prestigious Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) credential in Anesthesia & Analgesia in 2021.

What makes anesthesia so fascinating to Bernie? The complexity of each case, the unique challenges every patient presents, and the intricate physiology involved in keeping patients safe and comfortable throughout their procedures. It's a specialty that requires critical thinking, precision, and an exceptional understanding of how the body responds to anesthesia.

After 17 years as part of the RBVH family, Bernie will be embarking on a new chapter at the end of this year. While we'll certainly miss having Bernie on our team, we're incredibly grateful for the years of dedication, specialized expertise, and contributions to patient care. And let's not forget to mention how no RBVH soiree will ever be the same without Bernie's dancing.

🐾💚 Please Join Us in Welcoming Dr. Matt Cook to the RBVH Family! 💚🐾

We are thrilled to introduce Dr. Matt Cook, VMD, DACVIM (Oncology), the newest addition to our outstanding Medical Oncology team at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital!

For some of our longtime team members and clients, Dr. Cook may be a familiar face! He completed his rotating internship right here at RBVH in 2017, and we couldn't be happier to welcome him back!

A Central New Jersey native, Dr. Cook earned his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania before completing his oncology residency and master's degree at The Ohio State University. He became a board-certified veterinary oncologist in 2021 and has since practiced in Nashville and Cleveland.

Dr. Cook's areas of special interest include:

✔️Osteosarcoma

✔️Lymphoma

✔️Mast cell tumors

✔️Hemangiosarcoma

Uncommon and rare cancers in dogs and cats

Dr. Cook also has a passion for clinical research and has authored or coauthored 25 scientific manuscripts, helping advance the field of veterinary oncology and the care available to our beloved pets.

Beyond the hospital, Dr. Cook enjoys spending time with family, friends, and his French Bulldog, Hamish! He also loves traveling, cooking, hiking, and cheering on the Yankees, Giants, and Ohio State!

A cancer diagnosis can be an overwhelming experience for pet owners, and having a compassionate, knowledgeable, and collaborative oncology team makes all the difference. Dr. Cook brings a wealth of experience and a dedication to helping pets and their families navigate their cancer journeys.

We are so excited to have him join our team of specialists as we continue to provide exceptional, comprehensive cancer care for the pets who depend on us.
