🐾 Save the Date, Krew! Denver's 8th Annual Relay for Rescue Is Coming!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 3, 2026 — because Denver's biggest day of dog-loving fun is back, and we want YOU on our team.
Here's the best part: Relay for Rescue is a charity scavenger hunt and bar crawl rolled into one unforgettable day. Think balloon hops, locked elbows, newspaper press, and a whole lot of laughs — all to raise money for local animal welfare. 🐶
And don't let the word "relay" fool you. No running required. Just good vibes, great company, and a little friendly competition.

🐾 Some dogs come to us needing a little extra love. Gus needed a lot — and he earned every bit of it.
In August 2025, Gus had what should have been a routine neuter. But his story was never going to be simple. Gus was cryptorchid, meaning one of his testicles never properly descended, so his surgery was far more complex than expected. 💛
Soon after, things got harder. He developed painful swelling at the surgical site, and his bloodwork showed an elevated white blood cell count. Gus needed antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and a sedative just to rest and heal.
Then came the setback we feared — his surgical site opened and began to drain. This brave boy needed a second surgery, with a drain placed to help him heal from the inside out.
Through it all, Gus stayed sweet, patient, and trusting. He never gave up, and neither did we.
That kind of care saves lives, but it isn't free — and we're still working to pay off the bills behind it.

I'm a handsome German Shepherd Mix, and if you're looking for a dog who treats every person like a best friend, you just found me.

🐾 Khloe update: our girl is healing beautifully! 💛
Remember Khloe and her TPLO surgery? We're thrilled to share that she's doing wonderfully in recovery.
She's using her leg just the right amount on potty breaks, letting her foster guide her through her little exercises and icing sessions, and she's been a total champ with crate rest. Every day, she's getting one step closer to running, playing, and chasing those joyful zoomies again.
None of this would be possible without you. To everyone who donated to Khloe's surgery — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You gave this sweet girl the chance to heal and a future full of pain-free adventures. 🐶
And a special, heartfelt thank-you to Khloe's amazing foster. The patience, the daily care, the icing and exercises, the gentle encouragement — you are the reason she's thriving. Foster love like yours changes lives.

🌟 Meet Our June Shining Star of the Pack: Anthony! 🌟
We are beyond proud to introduce this month's Shining Star — a volunteer whose heart for rescue runs deep. 🐾
For nearly two years, Anthony and his wife have opened their home to foster dogs through Karl's Canine Krew. As a military couple, they prove that compassion travels wherever life takes you, giving rescue pups the love and second chance at life they deserve. 💙
There's so much more to Anthony's story, and we can't wait to share it with you all month long. Stay tuned — his full spotlight is coming soon! 🐶✨

🐾 On January 14, 2026, Maggie arrived in our care with a litter of puppies and a whole lot of hope.
Then came the heartbreak. Her puppies tested positive for parvovirus and started fighting for their lives. We lost two of them — a loss that still aches. But four little fighters pulled through, beat the virus, and are now thriving in their forever homes. 💛
This is what rescue really looks like: real dogs, real medical battles, and real costs that don't disappear just because the happy ending arrives.
Over the next two weeks, we're sharing the stories behind our outstanding vet bills — starting with Maggie and her pups. These dogs got every chance to heal because of people like you, and we're still working to cover the care that saved them.
