So true!

THE LITTLE SECRET THEY WONT TELL YOU 🤫
Well-meaning pet parents buying food for their pets should look beyond the protein name on the bag.

A pet that (allergically) reacts to chicken, for instance, may be reacting to the condition of that protein: old meat, rendered meals, poor cold-chain handling, microbial spoilage, oxidized fats, synthetic additives, or a gut already inflamed by ultra-processed food.

Did you know?
Decomposing meat sources can dramatically raise histamine exposure, and biogenic amines such as histamine, tyramine, cadaverine, and putrescine are byproducts of microbial spoilage ‼️

Once formed, they are heat stable, so cooking, baking, canning, or rendering does not reliably erase them. The FDA makes this same point with fish: histamine can build after death when spoilage bacteria act on tissue, and once formed, it cannot be removed by washing, freezing, or heating.

💸 This is why inexpensive pet food can become expensive biology.

😱 AAFCO notes that certain dead, dying, diseased, or disabled animal materials may enter animal feed after rendering to remove disease-causing microorganisms. Rendering may address microbes, but it does not turn aged, decomposing, or low-quality raw material back into fresh food. Roadkill and old carcass material carry the same concern in plain language: unknown time of death, unknown temperature, unknown gut rupture, and no controlled chilling.

🚧 Healthy food cannot come from sick animals or bad handling.

Humanely raised, pastured animals eating species-appropriate diets create a very different food than feedlot animals, conventionally fed ingredient animals, rotting meats, or heat-processed meals made from questionable raw material.

A pet can react to histamine, but histamine is rarely the whole story. Gut imbalance, parasites, heavy metals, poor mineral status, medications, stress, and immune dysfunction can all affect histamine response.

Aside from the possibility of a pet's own underlying health condition, freshness, sourcing, handling, processing, and the health of the animal behind that protein determine what actually lands in the bowl, and how your pet responds to it.

I want to be clear: I am NOT discounting the serious issues we have with dog overpopulation and dog homelessness. I am very grateful to all the dedicated and hardworking people in shelters and rescues.

What I hope for is that we will change the practice of how we prevent unwanted pregnancies in dogs (including those in rescues) so we can prevent the unnecessary disease, suffering and heartbreak caused by the absence of s*x hormones.

O***y Sparing Spay (OSS) and vasectomy are the procedures that can be done in place of the conventional spay and neuter and based on research, they are safer and prevent a whole array of issues.

🚨 IMPORTANT NEWS from Dr. Will Falconer, DVM 🧬🐶
I’m sharing this urgent update from holistic vet Will Falconer, DVM, who just covered this in his newsletter — and it’s something every pet owner needs to know. ⚠️

👉 Merck has launched a new rabies vaccine called Nobivac NXT, now rolling out across North America.
It uses self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) technology, similar to what we saw with the Covid vaccines — but now in our animals. 🧪

💉 Claimed “benefits”:
• Only 0.5 ml dose
• No aluminum (adjuvants)
• No mercury (preservatives)

But what’s the catch?

⚠️ This lab-created RNA replicates inside the body.
Once injected, it produces rabies virus proteins that trigger the immune system — and this RNA can spread throughout the body, including vital organs and the brain. The long-term effects? Completely unknown.

🧬 No independent long-term safety studies
📄 No transparency
💊 Research conducted by Merck’s own Intervet — not peer-reviewed or publicly available

We’ve seen what can go wrong with fast-tracked RNA tech in humans. Now it’s being pushed onto our pets.

🐾 What you can do:
✅ Ask to see the vaccine label before ANY injection.
❌ If it says “Nobivac NXT,” say NO.
✅ Request the older “thimerosal-free” version instead.

❓Why the rush? Rabies isn’t a widespread crisis in the West. Let’s not gamble with our pets’ health.

📌 Summary: Until we have real, independent, long-term safety data, this RNA vaccine should not be blindly accepted. Let’s protect our animals with informed decisions.

🙏 Thank you Dr. Will Falconer, DVM for continuing to dig deep and speak out. I’m sharing this to help raise awareness.

Plastics are porous: they trap oils🩸 that quickly turn rancid. Unless washed daily (which isn’t realistic), plastic containers can spoil the pet food stored inside.

Proper storage is key to slowing harmful chemical changes and stopping bacteria🦠 growth.

PLEASE, PLEASE BEWARE THIS FACEBOOK GROUP...
Guys, I've never done this before but I feel compelled to put a warning out there about this group. The information they are putting out is so catastrophically bad that I must urge everyone to stay away.

These guys are of the belief that cancer in meat-eating dogs can be reversed by feeding an ALL-FRUIT diet.

"For dogs with cancer we always start them on all fruits for the first 30 - 90 days and then move to 5 fruit days, 1 meat day & 1 fasting day until fully healed".

In one message, a 15-year-old staffie with cancer that is rapidly losing weight is advised to increase her banana consumption to 15-20 bananas a day in order to get "a few more pounds" on.

Yes, but pounds of what?!!!!

Lean body mass is utterly paramount for cancer patients, you have to curb this weight loss but carbs / sugar don't build LEAN body mass, protein does, as anyone in the gym will tell you. Carbs / sugar function only in energy, where excess is stored as FAT, which is PRO inflammatory, PRO cancer. Better being lean!

Worse, all that sugar summons vast amounts of insulin into the system and that is utterly DISASTROUS for the cancer patient.

Tumours LOVE insulin, the growth hormone. They NEED it to grow.

That's how we find them in the body. We radioactive tag a sugary drink and make the cancer patient drink it (I know...) and it shows up where all the tumours are. It's called a PET scan.

So anything that pulls lots of insulin into the system is thought to be cancer-promoting. This mean, all low protein, high-carb dry food and "fruit only" diets are most certainly OUT (if they were ever in...).

Animals with cancer, human or dog, are very strongly advised to get on to a diet rich in fresh meat protein and fat, with all the nutrients therein, and cut the carbs, particularly sugar, down down down, leaving in only those few (low sugar) plant ingredients that offer mega metabolic / anti-cancer benefits.

ALL evidence points this way. For more read Taubes "The Case Against Sugar" or my book, Feeding Dogs. Read ANYTHING. Ask ChatGPT. Anything at all.

There is ZERO evidence that a high fruit / sugar diet reduces cancer in human and pets. There are only studies showing both humans and dogs with cancer do better the less carbs you feed them (I posted three in dogs following this post).

For more, check out my article on carbs and cancer
https://dogsfirst. ie/sugar-causes-cancer-in-dogs/

YES, fruit and veg can contain some pretty cool anti-cancer compounds (eg lycopene in COOKED tomato, a fruit as it happens!). The problem for cancer patients is the delivery system. Fruit comes with a whack of sugar. You must move to the isolated compound, free of sugar, in supplement form.

Guys, if you have a dog with cancer, please, please, please talk to a natural vet with knowledge in nutrition. Here's a list of ones I recommend that do Zoom consults www.drconorbrady .com/natural-vets

And just to conclude - this isn't a witchhunt. I don't doubt they mean well folks and no doubt there are a number of very desperate pet owners in there getting some solace from the guidance. There are no products involved here. The girl running the group offers cost-effective consultations, that's about it. However, I also know they're not going to do an about-face just because we point out the errors of their ways. So, while I'm not really sure what can be done, please be polite and patient until we know more. We're all thinking about the dogs.
