What is the best thing about a rainy day?
It's hard to outdo a purring cat who just wants to cuddle with you.
Meet Scooter! He will happily be your sunshine on dreary days. Scooter is our first medical rescue of the year (learn more about our Angel Fund program here: https://www.vssah.com/angel). He came to us as a stray with some nasty tummy troubles, but has been given the all clear for adoption now that he is healthy!
Scooter is a young adult orange tabby and white domestic shorthair. He has been neutered and vaccinated and is ready to be your new best friend. This sweet boy is a cuddle-bug who loves to chat and will trill at you regularly.

Kitten season is upon us once again!

Neonatal kittens require a LOT of intense, round-the-clock care! In most cases, it is best for the kittens to remain with mom if at all possible because she will do the best job caring for her babies (https://www.alleycat.org/take-action/leave-them-be/).
When that isn't possible or isn't safe, it is important to know how to provide for these little guys because they can decline rapidly. If a litter comes into your possession, keep them in a warm, draft-free environment and contact a rescue group or veterinarian as soon as possible.
Determine the kitten/s' age (https://www.alleycat.org/resources/kitten-progression/) so that you can assess the level of care they will require and familiarize yourself with the basics of kitten care so that you can keep them healthy until they are in the hands of a long-term caretaker (https://www.alleycat.org/com.../caring-for-neonatal-kittens/).

Charcoal has a friend over to play today! Gregory was one of our rescue bottle baby kittens last year and has come to visit this week while his new person is out of town. They're both so glad to have someone to play with - just listen to those happy chirps!
