I just wanted to say what an outstanding job Jim & Debbie have done when it comes to animal rescue! So few can even fathom what kind of dedication, and unbelievably hard work this takes. How many of you have gotten out of bed on a freezing winter night and trudged out to feed an animal - sometimes 2 or 3 times - because feeding is what keeps them warm? Debbie is a natural born horse healer, and her #1 ingredient is love. If you've ever truly seen 'with your own eyes' her with her horses, and pets you'll know that - she has some inate ability to make the abused ,hurt,or uncared for-know that everything's gonna be OK- it seems. Because they trust her - I think! I'll tell ya one thing for sure - you never see an animal running the other direction - I don't care what type it is. And that speaks a helluva lot louder than words - In my book!

BOYCOTT GMOs: GMO backlash threatens GMO sugar beet farmers as foodmakers swap sugars. GMO sugar beet growers have seen their share of the U.S. sugar market slip to the smallest on record. Rather than switching to non-GMO crops, the GMO sugar beet lobby has decided to pump money into propaganda instead. It spent almost $1 million in the first half of the year on issues including GMO labeling, according to U.S. Senate records reviewed by Reuters. And the American Sugarbeet Growers Association and Monsanto are training mom bloggers, enlisting 18 women, largely GMO farmers and wives of GMO farmers, to defend GMO sugar on Twitter and Facebook and persuade mothers that GMO seeds are safe. They believe that because the message is being delivered by women, that consumers will trust it. PURE DECEPTION. BEWARE THE MOM BLOGGER that tells you GMOs and pesticides are safe.

“We’ll probably keep doing some of that with him,” Charlie LoPresti said. “He’s a really smart horse, and he’s not hard to ride. He was really strong when he was at the racetrack, but he was not unruly in any way; he just felt good.”

And LoPresti is keen to share the training skills he’s learned from the revered Western horsemen from America’s Great Basin area, like Buck Brannaman, who practices what’s commonly referred to now as “natural horsemanship”. The training method is based on working with a horse’s own nature to promote responsiveness, rather than being confrontational or forceful with the animal. LoPresti uses these methods to start all of the horses in his program.

The red rope halter and the long lead rope without a chain that LoPresti uses when he’s working with Wise Dan are signature tools of Brannaman-style natural horsemanship, and they’re a point of pride, too, because they show how manageable the multiple champion racehorse is - something LoPresti believes is due in part to this style of early training.

Residents at an Erina nursing home got a surprise when two draft horses and a cowboy popped in for a friendly neigh-bourhood visit.
