We had such a fun weekend at Harvest Fest giving wagon rides to all the guests — thanks to everyone who stopped by for a little fall adventure! 🍂🐴

We’ll be back this weekend for round two, rain or shine! The wagon’s covered, so come stay cozy, say hi to the horses, and enjoy the ride.

Special thanks to Willie the corgi for keeping spirits high 🐾 and to for capturing these beautiful moments! 📸

We’re very grateful for the positive response to Kathleen leading the pack string near Cathedral Rock last week. It was a rewarding day of honest work in an industry that is both labor-intensive and rooted in customer service.

One commenter, however, questioned whether we do any trail maintenance to make up for the “destruction” our horses and mules cause in the wilderness. To be clear: virtually all outfitters in the Western United States — including us — do a tremendous amount of trail maintenance. From packing in thousands of pounds of bridge timbers, to clearing downed logs and brush, to repairing water crossings after spring runoff, our crews put in countless hours to keep trails open and safe for everyone.

In fact, many of the destinations we guide to are only accessible because of the work we do to maintain them — often we’re the first ones on the trail to get this work done. While agencies do their best to keep up, they simply can’t do it all, and we’re proud to do our part.

So if you’re going to comment on whether we do our part, we ask that you speak from a place of knowledge and experience. The photos here show just a glimpse of the hard work that goes into stewarding these trails, not just for our guests — but for the entire public.

Special thanks to Goff for his comment, which gives us the chance to highlight this important work.

Our Story

Our dream of running a professional outfitting business became a reality in the fall of 2001 when we had the opportunity to purchase Three Peaks Outfitters. Our very first ride was with two wonderful couples from the Seattle area who this year went on their 16th annual trip with us. From the day we started we have had one simple goal that we carry forward to this day:

"Provide the highest quality experience for our guests on great horses with quality gear and share our love of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and surrounding areas with all who join us on our trips."

Our family is deeply rooted and connected to our horses and mules. We take pride in you riding any of our horses, all of whom we enjoy riding ourselves. Quality stock are quite often the difference between a good ride and a great ride. We provide you with savvy horses that are in shape, healthy, and have a sparkle in their eye. As for our mules, we are very proud of them and think they are the best in the business (yes, we're biased here) and always get the job done.

The Alpine Lakes Wilderness simply speaks for itself. We are very fortunate to operate in country that has so much diversity and history attached to it. The wilderness requires an outfitter who will take the extra steps to minimize stock impacts and to leave the wilderness better than we found it. We are proud to be that outfitter.
