Tomorrow is Veterans Day. ❤️🐾

This weekend, we’re honoring those who’ve served our country—with purrs, headbutts, and unconditional love.

Through Illinois House Bill 2500, U.S. military veterans can adopt a shelter cat (or dog) at no cost—including any of the amazing cats waiting here at Tree House. cat2

Veterans with a valid ID are eligible for one free adoption every two years—a small thank-you for the big contributions they’ve made.

If you know a veteran who could use a loyal companion (and a lot of cuddles), share this post and help them find their next best friend at Tree House. 💚

Hey batter batter! ⚾📣 Our latest Happy Ending Tail knocks it out of the park and proves that love always wins in extra innings. ❣️

Meet Wrigley Field, one of Tree House’s small but mighty all-star kittens, who stepped up to the plate, rounded the bases, and slid right into her adopter's heart. ⭐🙌 For these two, it was love at first pitch. 😻 And honestly, who could resist an adorable and friendly kitten like her? (Not us!) 😅

Since being adopted in July, Wrigley Field has been showered with love, snuggles, and all the space she needs to become her happiest, most playful self. 💗 Now, she has a full team at home, including her doting big brother Theo, another Tree House alum, and Lisa, a fluffy, spunky pup who loves nothing more than cuddling with her new little sister. 😺🐶

Wrigley Field’s story is one we can proudly fly the W for! 🏆 Here’s to our little MVP and all the happy days ahead!

Open-heart surgery… on a cat?! 💓 That’s exactly what saved Penny Lane’s life!

Penny Lane was found wandering our parking lot—friendly, but clearly in need of help. When our staff examined her, they could see her heart murmur pulsing through her chest. 🩺 Tests revealed a PDA (patent ductus arteriosus)—a congenital heart defect that most cats don’t survive long with. But Penny Lane had already beaten the odds at around four years old!

🏥 The incredible team at the Veterinary Specialty Center performed open-heart surgery and her spay procedure in one go—repairing her heart and ensuring she wouldn’t pass the condition to future kittens.

Today, Penny Lane is recovering in her foster home, taking her heart meds and stealing hearts along the way. We can’t wait to see her continue to heal—and, hopefully soon, find her match. 💕

Can you picture Angelique in your home? 🖼️

In her foster home, Angelique spends her days basking in sunbeams and her nights curled up in front of the heater. We can’t blame her—who doesn’t love a little cozy warmth this time of year? 🤗

She’s a mix of sweet and spicy—think orange chicken or hot honey—and she’ll happily melt into a purr puddle in every warm nook and corner of your home.

Angelique is available through our Foster-to-Family program, which means you can adopt her straight from her foster home! 💛

Cats and dogs, working together?! 🐱🐶
Away with the cats-vs-dogs debate—what if they teamed up for good?

If you’re a , you’ve probably heard of parvovirus—a contagious and often deadly illness for puppies. Cats have their own version, called panleukopenia, which can be just as serious for kittens. That’s why vaccines are so important! 💉

Recently, Sandman, Veronica, Happy, and Vicki (any Adam Sandler fans out there?) were diagnosed with panleukopenia. As part of an experimental treatment, our team received antibodies from a local animal rescue—originally designed for dogs with parvo! Some veterinarians have seen success using them for cats with no adverse side effects, as the antibodies can prevent the virus from replicating and help speed up recovery.

These cuties are still healing in foster care, but we’re hopeful! 💚 At Tree House, innovation drives everything we do—from testing new treatments to finding small, meaningful ways to improve care. Every step forward helps us build a better future for cats.

IT’S NATIONAL ANIMAL SHELTER APPRECIATION WEEK 🐾

Did you know Tree House is part of the Chicagoland Humane Coalition? To us, animal welfare is all about community. It takes a village—people AND the animals that inspire them—to create systematic change and improve access to life-saving care. 🌐

Being part of this village means collaborating. That’s why we’re proud to join forces with shelters across greater Chicago, working together every day to give more animals an opportunity to thrive.

In a world that can feel divided, we believe sticking together strengthens our impact. When you support Tree House, you’re also supporting the life-saving conversations, collaborations, and resources that help shelters across our city.

Good golly! 🙀 Tree House’s gray-shaded sweetheart Golly Sandra found her Happy Ending Tail in May, and life has been one big cozy cuddle ever since.

Now called Luna, a name as bright as her spirit, this curious girl spends her time at home soaking up sunshine, chasing an abundance of toys, and plotting her next scrunchie heist (because you can never have too many)! 🌙🤔

When she’s not off on her own adventures, Luna’s a true social butterfly and ready to charm anyone she meets, whether they’re on two legs or four. 🦋

And on occasion, Luna heads out on her spooky-cute bat-winged leash to soak up all the yard’s best sniffs.🦇 Back inside, her zoomies have her scaling her cat tree or playing hide-and-seek in the closet.

Something tells us this little moonbeam is where she’s meant to be and we’re sure her glow will only grow. 🥰💫

Sometimes in life, you look for one thing… and find something completely unexpected. That’s how Nikon’s life was saved. 💛

This striking tortie came to Tree House showing signs of a urinary tract infection. When treatment didn’t resolve her symptoms, performed an abdominal ultrasound—and discovered not just a bladder stone, but also a dangerous issue with her gallbladder that could have ruptured. ⚠️

Our shelter medical team, led by Dr. Foose, successfully performed surgery to remove both the bladder stone and her gallbladder. (Fun fact: cats can live happy, healthy lives without a gallbladder when it’s safely removed with a procedure called a cholecystectomy.) ⚕️

Dr. Foose shared, “It was a delight to provide this treatment for Nikon and expand my surgical skills. Our team carefully weighed the risks and benefits of attempting this challenging procedure in-house, and I was pleased to find it very manageable after doing my research. Tree House shines when we’re able to offer complex veterinary care to our cats—it opens the door to even more adoption opportunities for them.”

Now Nikon is healing in foster care and well on her way to joining our adoptable . Here’s to a smooth recovery and a bright future ahead! ✨
