Precious Pets Almost Home rescues, fosters, and adopts out homeless pets. We are an all-volunteer organization.

We do not receive any federal, state or city funding. All of our support comes from concerned and involved individuals like you that share our compassion and love for cats and dogs in need of permanent, loving homes. Precious Pets Almost Home Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations are fully tax-deductible and are used to provide care for our animals, as we have no paid staff.

Peanut is a very sweet and active orange tabby boy (estimated DOB 8/1/25) who loves to play! He is an entertaining cat who demonstrates some very dog-like behavior. He’s very communicative. He loves to follow his foster from room to room, waiting for them to fling his catnip mouse in the air, roll the ball across the room, or—his favorite—toss a brightly colored spring onto the floor. He has been known to entertain himself with a spring for well over half an hour. And then there’s the cat dancer. Watch him fly, flip, and leap through the air as he works to knock it to the ground!

Between bursts of energy, Peanut likes to sprawl on the couch or flop on a comfy chair, resting up for his next adventure. He likes to be close but needs his own space. Even though he was born into a life on the street, he has no interest in going back outside. He likes to sit in a window and observe the goings-on, but is perfectly content with a soft spot inside and family around him. He seems destined to become a cuddly cat as he transitions into adulthood, but for now he prefers a quick chin scratch and pet as he walks by. He will jump into your lap but only for a few minutes and then it’s on to the next play.

Peanut would likely do well in a family with older children who can indulge his need for playtime. He would also benefit from being in a home with another equally active young cat. He is very interested in other cats, and wants to be close, but his big energy can be overwhelming, especially for older cats. His dog-like traits make him very trainable though, and he understands when he is told to back off. He is also very amenable to routine and catches on quickly.

Mamacita—affectionately known as **Cita**—has already lived quite a story. Rescued from the South Side of Chicago after giving birth outdoors, she experienced heartbreak when some of her kittens did not survive. But Cita stayed devoted to the two little ones who did: Charlie and Jack.

She has been an incredible mom from the start. Cita spends much of her time close to her babies, keeping watch, making sure they feel safe, and giving them the kind of comfort only a devoted mama can provide. She has a wonderfully nurturing side, but what makes her even more special is how much she loves people, too.

Cita is affectionate, loving, and happiest when she knows everyone around her is safe and settled. After everything she has been through, she can finally leave the hard part of her story behind. No more searching for shelter. No more trying to protect babies from the cold. No more Chicago winters outdoors.
Now it is Cita’s turn.

She is ready for a forever home where she can trade survival for soft blankets, warm windows, gentle hands, and the security of knowing she is finally home for good. This winter, Cita deserves to be exactly where she belongs—curled up indoors, loved beyond measure, with nothing left to worry about except finding the coziest spot in the house.

Jack has figured out kitten life pretty quickly: eat, play, nap, repeat. And as far as he is concerned, that is a pretty fantastic way to spend a day!

This sweet little guy loves his meals and is always ready for playtime afterward. He enjoys romping around with his brother Charlie, chasing toys, exploring his surroundings, and finding new ways to turn just about anything into entertainment. He has that wonderful kitten curiosity where the smallest thing can suddenly become the most exciting discovery of the day.

Jack is one of Mamacita (Cita)’s two surviving kittens, and watching him grow into a playful, thriving little boy has been especially rewarding. After such a difficult beginning for their little family, Jack now gets to focus on exactly what he should be focusing on—growing, playing, eating, and having fun.

We are still getting to know all the little details that make Jack uniquely Jack, but so far he is proving to be a cheerful, playful kitten who takes his job of enjoying kittenhood very seriously.

Jack is ready for a forever family who will give him plenty of playtime, plenty of love, and—perhaps most importantly in his opinion—plenty to eat.

Described by her foster as a real gem of a girl, Cindin (DOB 6/14/2026) is an incredibly affectionate kitten. She always wants her human’s attention and will follow you around and sleep cuddled up right next to you. If you work from home, you better believe you’ll have to pay her a salary because she will be right next to you (or on your computer!) from clock in to clock out. Anyone who adopts this little girl is truly in for a treat.

Cindin and her four littermates were born to a semi-feral cat who sadly died of feline panleukopenia virus. Cindin is a true survivor and is now thriving after a rough start to her young life.

Nicole (DOB 6/14/2026) is an adorable patch tabby who is equal parts loving and playful. She enjoys spending time with and sleeping next to her human. She is very playful with her toys and loves playing with her brothers and sisters. She is a very expressive girl and will let her siblings know when she wants to play (and when she doesn’t!). You know she is tired of social interaction when she gives them the cutest little yell. With Nicole, you get a big bundle of love in a tiny package. She is sure to bring joy to your home!

Figaro is an active kitten with a dapper tuxedo coat (est. DOB 7/16/2026). Described by his foster as a loving little purr monster, he is as crazy for pets as he is for canned food. Silly, funny, and playful, Figaro loves to engage with other cats and kittens for playtime. During downtime, he enjoys lounging by the window, enjoying the breeze, and watching the world go by.

Figaro and his brother, Carlo, were rescued together after being abandoned in a managed cat colony on the southwest side of Chicago. Their vetting will be complete on 10/24, and they will be ready for a forever home thereafter.

Figaro definitely needs another young, playful cat in the household. He's specifically seeking a playmate(s) that wants to run, chase and wrestle, then crash and nap together. Figaro can be adopted with his brother, Carolo, or into a household with another cat that can meet his needs.

BONDED PAIR

Sadie is a gorgeous calico cat who came into our care with her stunning litter of kittens. With an estimated birthdate of 11/16/2024, Sadie is nearly a kitten herself, and she runs and plays with her babies as if she's reclaiming lost time! Sadie has become particularly close to her daughter, Eloise (estimated birthdate 3/2/2026), with whom she romps, chases, and wrestles. We suspect that Sadies diet prior to rescue consisted largely of table scraps, as she is highly motivated by the aroma of anything meaty, and will even try to beg for bread! Fortunately, she redirects beautifully with high value cat food and eats her meals calmly. An ideal family will be comfortable helping her continue her journey towards understanding that delicious food will always be available for her. Positive reinforcement is key!

Eloise is a gentle and loving kitten who enjoys getting pets, being brushed, and playing with her wand toy. She can be slightly shy at first, but her curious nature quickly gets the best of her. She has a frolicsome play style that is as silly as it is adorable. Because they are bonded, Sadie and Eloise must be adopted together.

While we're not completely sure about her prior family, we know that Sadie and her kittens were surrendered by their owner.

Sadie and Eloise are being fostered in a home with other cats and can live comfortably with multiple feline companions. We recommend no more than one or two calmer cats or even another kitten. Sadie does best with folks who enjoy her beauty and playful nature but can respect that it will take a little time and patience before she's sitting in your lap. Therefore, we anticipate she would do well in a home with older children (tweens or older).

Some kittens just have a way of making you fall in love, and Juniper (DOB 5/26/26) is one of them. He has that wonderful kitten combination of a playful spirit and an affectionate personality that makes spending time with him such a joy. Juniper is ready for his forever home, where he can grow, explore, play, and be someone's beloved little sidekick. Could you be the one to give this handsome boy his happily ever after?

Poor Juniper was found all alone in a forest preserve at the young age of 4 weeks old. Nevertheless, this sweet boy loves being around people and is always happy to mix a little playtime with some cuddle time.

Juniper lives with dogs in his foster home and has a kitty bestie who is also available for adoption. Please consider Bailey as well. They are an adorable pair.
