Growing up my family raised three guide dogs and a search and rescue dog. Since then, I've seen and worked with these wonderful animals as therapy, emotional support, and medical dogs. Prior to the Finnish Lapphunds, I worked with Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Border Collie mixs, and Australian Shepherds. Up until this point I loved my dogs but they weren't a passion. In 2012 I saw my first

Lappy and fell in love with their big huge smiles and intelligent eyes. The next 3 years I researched the breed, made contact with a breeder, drove 9 hours to meet two very sweet lappies, and finally after being on a waiting list brought home my first girl. For me these are my best friends and perfect dogs. This breed is not one that you can leave out in your backyard all day. They thrive being with you and learning new things. Because they are intelligent they learn quickly but have a since of humor. It is important they have some form of exercise, but have an off switch and are ok cuddling with you on the couch. I raise my puppies believing it will be someones best friend. Thus when I breed I look at temperament, structure, and health. All have been tested and cleared for the following health issues. This weekend was a great show weekend for NordicSol.

Nordicsol Treasured Black Gold “Talvi” AKC pending is a NEW CHAMPION. Owned by Nick and Kendra

Her daughter, Nordicsol In The Golden Mountains Of Timberbay “Juniper” in Canada won Best Puppy in Group. Owned by Kaden, Isaac, Lynsay

MysticalMagic NordicSol Victory Dance “ Tanssi” got her first major. Owned by Pat, Holly, Jo, Kendra

Nordicsol Katydid Little Bit Of Heaven “Otto” got both his majors this weekend with his owner who is trying out showing. Brock and Kendra

Huge thank to many people this weekend but want to shout out specific. First is the judge Michael Canalizo. He was so patient with Brock and Otto as they tried to navigate the ring. Gave great pointers and helped him setup up Otto for a fantastic photo. Brock left Saturday having so much fun and eager to come to another show and show his dog. Judges like him is what will bring new people to this sport so huge thank you.

Also thank you to Katelyn who picked up my girls and boy, kept them during the show, groomed them, and found people to show them since I couldn’t make it.

It truly takes a village of wonderful owners and friends to compete in this sport and I’m very grateful to my village.

Stubborn Elm is pleased to announce our first litter of Finnish Lapphunds!
Many things needed to come together for this breeding to be successful & when we departed Utah to head to Washington for the breeding, my daughter Violet, mentioned that a planetary alignment was underway in the starry night sky.
When we got the exciting news that our efforts were indeed successful & that we should be expecting puppies soon, our thoughts were that —indeed— the "stars had aligned" .
Therefore, we are over-the-moon to be able to announce our "Written in the Stars" litter out of our "Tuuli" (Runamuck Tuulikukka at Stubborn Elm) & sired by Jo's "Dino" (US GCH CH, CA CH Rakkaus Reigns Paavo Taavetti)
Enormous thanks to Jo & Ric Olson and to Klahaya veterinary clinic for all of their efforts & time in helping us to succeed with this breeding, to those who have helped to mentor me in the breed, & to Kristen Miller for the gorgeous announcement for this long planned & greatly anticipated litter!

Angel was the first to leave today. He’s adopting a lovely family and getting his very own little girl with another cooking.

His new name will be Barry, said Beary because he looks like a little bear. He’s staying close by so hopefully we will get to see him and post photos as he grows.
