Hey everyone, this is Garrett. (My Facebook got hacked and deleted a while back so I’m coming to you from here)
It’s been a wild 45 days. I never thought I would be broken on (almost) every limb and tied to a wheel chair for a whole summer but here we are. The night of the accident is very blurry, all I can remember is waking up with my body out of the window/door of my pickup and my head and shoulders stuck inside. It took 70 minutes to get me out of the vehicle. I can remember the pressure lifting off my back and shoulders as they pried my truck apart. I don’t remember any of their faces but I’m very grateful to the crew that rescued me that night. Thank you isn’t enough.
I was air lifted to Cheyenne then eventually Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland where I was pieced back together with 3 surgeries, intubation and lung support. The team of doctors and nurses in the ICU were nothing short of amazing. In fact, in my 30 days in the hospital, EVERY doctor and nurse in every unit were just INCREDIBLE. This really widened my view on the healthcare world. When someone talks down about our healthcare system and how other countries have great and free healthcare, it’s bullsh*t. I probably came in contact with 100 different people ALL trying to save my life and get me back on track. Every one of them deserves to be paid a million dollars a year and still, that wouldn’t be enough. THANK YOU to every doctor, nurse, cna, specialist etc., my recovery is owed to you.
Lastly, I want to thank my community, network of friends, and family for all of their support. From my amazing wife, my parents and siblings, and my mother and father in law, to everyone who contributed to help us cover this mess of bills we have coming our way. I won’t lie, there were times where I felt like a charity case and the amount of people wanting to help was overwhelming. But it just shows how many great people I’ve crossed paths and formed bonds with. From the huge online sale, the revival bred cow sale, the raffles, the prayers, the visits in the hospital and all the donations big and small; I am just so grateful, thankful and unbelievably blessed. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.
