🎉Celebrating Mutts!🎉

It’s National Mutt Day so today we are celebrating our mixed-breed dogs🐶 ‘Mutts’ are dogs that have a combination of different breeds in their background. Lookin’ at you Doodles!😉 Mixed-breed dogs are just as loving and sweet as their purebred counterparts and may even be healthier due to genetic diversity. Not to mention their unique features😃

Looking for a mutt of your own? You can come in and visit our adoptable dogs or even take one out every Saturday for Snout & About. Your new best friend is waiting…❤

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, microchip, and heartworm test (dogs) or FIV/FeLV test (cats).
Adoption Fees:
🐶Dogs: $110
🐱Cats: $75 (second fee is waived when you adopt two)
🐰Small Animals: $20-30 (depending on species)

You must bring a copy of your pet's rabies certificate with the expiration date

Indigo came to us as a stray last July, and we knew immediately that she was going to make a new family very happy. Fast forward one month and she met that exact family😍

Indigo is now known as Dixie. She loves all her new siblings and is quite the snuggler. Dixie has reportedly escaped the yard a few times but quickly realized that she has a great family, a wonderful place to live, and nothing more to run away from😊We love you Dixie and are so happy to see you living your best life!❤️

Today is for orange cat energy! We’ve often heard that orange cats are the most mischievous😼 Nugget and Ricky were certainly trying to live up to that reputation today! They are also said to be the most vocal and affectionate. Of course, none of this is scientifically proven😹 Have an orange cat? What do you think?

Unfortunately, it's too hot for our pups to be outside for extended periods of time😕

The second wave of kitten season is upon us! We need fosters to help us cuddle these cuties until they are old enough and big enough for adoption❤

Kittens range in age from just days old to 2+ months and fostering can last anywhere from two weeks to two months depending on age and health. Chesapeake Animal Services provides all the supplies you will need and will also help train you to be a successful foster😃

🐾Alumni Check-in!!🐾

Who remembers Dexter? This ridiculously handsome pup came to us as a stray at the beginning of May and was out the door by the end of the month. Staff and volunteers immediately fell in love with his goofy personality🤪

Dexter, now Czar, is settling into his new home nicely. He is doing great in training, although he would rather spend his days basking in the sun and being fed treats 😋Czar has a canine cousin that he likes going on long walks with and a cat sister who hasn’t quite warmed up to him...yet. He gives his new pawrents absolutely no privacy, even escorting them to the bathroom🫣 We are happy to see that the rest of Czar’s life will be filled with treats, cuddles, and belly rubs!❤️

Nefertiti can’t wait to get out and sniff some flowers with you tomorrow during Snout and About at Chesapeake Animal Services!🌻 Our pups enjoy walks, checking out dog-friendly businesses and restaurants, or just chilling out and enjoying a car ride. Pup cups are always appreciated😋

No experience is necessary to participate in Snout and About, and children are welcome! We will provide you with a backpack full of the supplies you need for your adventure. All you need to supply is love💞
