Farm Discovery Camp Day 2: Bunny & Plant Day! 🐰🌱🐴

Today started with a fun game of Red Light, Green Light on horseback using our real stop light! Then campers painted bunny magnets before helping feed the horses their lunch (and handing out some well deserved treats too!).

After lunch, we checked in on the chicks, visited the goats in the pasture, and took on the famous "Can I Eat a Whole Plant?" challenge. Several campers accepted the challenge and successfully munched their way through an entire edible plant! 🌿😆

The afternoon was all about bunnies and gardening. We met the rabbits, enjoyed plenty of cuddle time, and made enrichment toys for them to enjoy. Then each camper planted marigold seeds to take home—seeds that were collected right here on the farm last year.
Another fantastic day of animals, learning, and hands-on farm fun. We can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings!

What an end to the day!

Jaxon came running in from the rabbit barn with exciting news—Holly had her babies! 🐰💕

Six live kits. I had pregnancy checked Holly several times and didn't think she was bred. Apparently she was doing a pretty good job of keeping a secret... because hiding six babies is quite the accomplishment!

We're going to give Holly plenty of peace and quiet while she settles into motherhood. We're excited to share that this is the first rabbit litter ever born at Blue Heron Farm!

Welcome to the world, little bunnies. ❤️

First day of our new Farm Discovery Camp was a hit! 🤠🐴🐐🐥

Today we learned about horse safety, groomed our horses, rode, and tie-dyed our camp shirts. After feeding the horses their lunch, campers enjoyed their own lunch before heading off to meet the chicks and visit the goat pasture.

In the afternoon, we learned about roosters vs. hens, identified the different parts of a rooster, and finished the day with an egg dissection lab. There were lots of questions, discoveries, and a few "ewwws" along the way! 🥚🔬

We're off to a great start and can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings! 💙🌾

Today's Farm School classes were a wrap for Spring! 🌱🐴☀️

It was a hot one, so we started by feeding horses and checking in with the chicks... who are suddenly HUGE. The kids loved reminiscing about how tiny they were just a few weeks ago. 🐥

Next, we headed out to visit the goats in the pasture before planting marigold seeds saved from the farm last year and learning about what plants need to grow. 🌱🐐

Then it was time for horse safety before meeting Shaker up close. We learned about grooming tools, different brushes, and everyone helped get him looking his best. After grooming, we practiced how to safely lead a horse and talked about what it means to be a good leader—being confident, paying attention, and giving clear directions. Each student then took a turn leading Shaker through an obstacle course. 🐴✨

We wrapped up with Horse Fact or Fiction and completed our farm passports for the season. It has been so much fun watching these young farmers learn, grow, ask great questions, and gain confidence around the animals this spring. 💙

That's a wrap on Spring Farm School! Farm School will return in August with all new topics and activities. Registration will open in July, so keep an eye on our page for details. We can't wait to welcome everyone back to the farm for another season of hands-on learning, animal adventures, and farm fun! 🌻🐐🐴🐰🐥

Last day of Farm School for our Tuesday crew… and we wrapped up with Horse & Plant Day! 🌱🐴

Rainy weather meant a cozy barn day, so we started by feeding horses and checking in with the chicks… who are suddenly HUGE. The kids loved reminiscing about how tiny they were just a few weeks ago. 🐥

Next, everyone planted marigold seeds saved from the farm last year and learned about what plants need to grow. Then it was time for horse safety before meeting Shaker and Captain up close. We learned about grooming tools, different brushes, and everyone helped get the horses looking their best.

After grooming, we practiced how to safely lead a horse, and each student took a turn guiding the horses through an obstacle course like little horse trainers in the making. 🐴✨

We wrapped up with Horse Fact or Fiction and completed our farm passports for the session. What a fun way to finish out our Tuesday Farm School group! 💙

Something new is soaking up the sunshine at Blue Heron Farm! ☀️🐐

Sneak peek of our new After Sun Goat Milk Lotion…currently in the “mixing, testing, and bribing the goats for approval” stage. 😅

Made with fresh goat milk from our herd and created for sun-soaked summer skin after pool days, garden days, camp days, farmers market days…or just forgetting sunscreen existed.

Coming soon to the farm ✨

Today’s Goat Yoga class has been canceled due to muddy parking conditions from all the rain. Our grass parking areas are just too wet for vehicles right now. 🌧️🐐

If you were registered for today’s class, please check your email for details on how to reschedule to another Goat Yoga session.

Don’t worry — the goats still plan to practice yoga poses and climb on things all summer long. 😅

We host Goat Yoga classes monthly through October, so there will be plenty more chances to join us on the farm!

Chicken Day at Farm School was egg-stra fun! 🐓🥚

We started with horse chores, visited the goats, checked in on the chicks, and then headed into our Egg Lab. Farm Schoolers learned how to weigh eggs, cracked them open, and explored all the different parts inside.

We wrapped up with Chicken Fact or Fiction, an egg chucking challenge, and farm passports. A full farm day with just the right amount of science, animals, and chaos. 🐣✨
