CJ Skylar is a young bundle of energy that is ready to play! This guy LOVES toys and will press them into your leg to engage in tug. 🥹 He will throw it to himself but seems to prefer to play with a friend. He shows to be dog friendly and we think a buddy would help him burn off his excess energy! He is also friendly with all kinds of people, but may be a bit much for younger children 🫠

At only about a year old, CJ Skylar is a younger guy ready for adventures. He is smart as a whip and already knows “sit” and “shake”. He is treat motivated which will make him a quick study as he’s willing to do almost anything for a treat! He’s a loving guy who looooves toys and playtime. He’s starting to get annoyed by all the hours in a kennel and needs reminders to not chew his leash. He drops it with a “no” and we think with a schedule and routine, will be a fantastic companion.

If you are interested in CJ Skylar, come meet him soon! As always, please bring all family members to meet available dogs. Dogs should be on leash, cats in a hard carrier.

Please consider adopting, the staff can help find you a dog that fits your lifestyle.

Every dog comes with donated, free training sessions with local trainers: Cosmic K9 (2 sessions) and Hoperidge RTA (1 session). Adopters should research post-adoption decompression and the rule of 3s: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine and 3 months to start to feel at home..

The Shelter Pet Studio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by volunteers, independent from the shelters we assist. SPS writes bios based on our experience with a pet and are not making guarantees. WHERE ARE THE CATTLE DOG LOVERS?!

Bayard and Union are two energetic, jumping bean sisters (?) that arrived together March 5th. They have been waiting 92 days for a home which is quite a long time for an energetic pup! They seem to enjoy each others company, so we think they’d enjoy the company of another playful, tolerant dog. They both love running and jumping and definitely feed off each others energy. They do not need to be adopted together but could be. 😊 Having another dog would definitely help release some of their energy and help them to learn the ropes.

Bayard (dark) is smart and loves treats. 🍪 She has “sit” down pat and is very attentive. Her drive would make her a great candidate for agility. She loves to nibble and can be a bit mouthy so would benefit from training, exercise and mental stimulation.

Union (tan) is an absolute jumping bean. She jumps up and down and left and right like it’s her job 🐇😆 She likes to nip heels and chase - true to her breed - so needs a home that understand it. She knows sit and likes to play “find it” using her nose to find treats. She is a lot more picky about her dog friends than Bayard and seems more intense in her play. As such, she will need a tolerant dog or no other dogs in the home.

Come meet Bayard and/or Union to see if they’re fit for your home. Please bring all family members (dogs and cats, too!) to make sure everyone approves.

Adoptions have been excruciatingly slow lately. 💔 We are hoping the longest residents don’t have to spend another weekend in the pound. 😔 They would rather be camping, walking, hiking and boating with their new forever family.

These 4 doggies are the current longest residents at The Dogs at the Stark County Dog Warden. They have been waiting so patiently to be chosen. If you are looking for a new-to-you dog, please consider one of these goodest pups ❤️

Maria is a young gal that takes a couple minutes to warm up - but when she does, she’s your bestie for life. She loves to give hugs and loads of kisses 😘 This girl came in back on November 11 and has been waiting 206 days for someone to give her a chance. When you come to meet her, give her a bit to check it out and maybe bring some yummy treats. 😊 Volunteers and staff genuinely love this girl and can’t wait to see her get adopted!

JJ is the 2nd longest resident and we can’t believe he’s even on this list 💔 this boy is so happy, goofy and grateful. He hops and wags his tail the whole time he’s out. He loves humans more than anything in the world but toys are a close second. 🎾 We could tell he had been mistreated prior to his arrival to the shelter but he has healed physically and emotionally he has never wavered. He’s an incredible dog that needs a home. Definitely a diamond in the rough. 💎 He came in November 24th and has been waiting 193 days for a new home.

ADOPTED 🎉 3rd longest resident Chunk was adopted briefly but returned due to his strength on leash. He comes with free training sessions and we know he will catch on quickly. He originally came to the shelter March 4 which makes it 93 days of shelter time. He is a volunteer and staff favorite for his amazing demeanor. He is said to be housebroken and has potential with other dogs. He met a Pomeranian and did very well. He is an absolute gentleman and knows basic commands. He’s as close to perfect as you can get!

Cletus is our 4th longest resident and we can’t understand why! This goofy guy loves to roll in grass and will keep you laughing with his adorable face and hilarious antics. He arrived March 4th and we can’t believe he’s been waiting 93 days for an adopter!! He walks well on leash and keeps his kennel very clean! He’s a mature gentleman and ready for the rest of his life!

Come meet these pups and see for yourself what a perfect companion they can be. Bring the whole family (dogs on leash, cats in a hard-sided carrier) for a meet and greet! 🏡💛

🐾AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!🐾

🥜 CASHEW is singing the blues because he misses his family.
This 1 year old/ 55 pound boy seems to have been loved. He knows basic commands and has been keeping his cage clean. Unfortunately he wasn’t given flea/ tick prevention so he is positive for Lyme disease. It is not contagious and he is starting treatment.
He really wants to be back in a home environment soon. Please stop by and visit this handsome pup.
