I just found out I tried for Champion for the RMH division of our GOT Points (Gaits of Texas Points) show circuit! Won my very first buckle. 🥰 I'll pick it up on the 14th when I go to the show. This buckle was earned by "Natty" RFR America's Native Spirit 🙌🏼 Next year I'll see if I can get Callie one too!

Pic is of what the buckles look like. They're made by Molly's custom silver.

I had to do the trend with Natty 🤣

This was the conclusion of our ponying Stella trail ride from last weekend. Callie needed to blow off some steam after 4 miles of dragging her little sister around.

You may notice I talk to Callie a lot while riding and she always flicks an ear back to listen. Our trails have a fair amount of exposed root/trip hazard and I find that using certain words and phrases consistently help Callie know when to watch her feet and whether to anticipate an up or down step while traveling at speed across varied terrain.

Do you talk to your horses while riding?

🎶 Everybody was kung fu fighting! 🥋🐴

Me: “Let’s canter.”
Natty: “HI-YAH! Absolutely not.”

When you’ve been on vacation mode and the overlord suddenly expects you to WORK. 😂

The Texas Two-Step: equine edition. This particular demonstration is a buddy sour stallion exhibiting a behavioral response to a canter cue, not a pain response. He’s capable, he’s just not particularly enthusiastic about the assignment. 🤠

Ironically, he loves to canter and once he realized that's what was happening he made many turns around the arena without breaking stride.

Softness through the neck and poll, relaxation without losing cadence, and a consistent, balanced gait.

It’s not just about how a horse moves, but how effortlessly he responds. Natty and I are always refining the little things that make the biggest difference.

Wet n wild splash kingdom Intro endurance ride!

Saturday we rode 12 miles with half of it in an absolute downpour. It was definitely an adventure with friends we won't forget.

We vetted in with all A's and vetted out all A's but 1 B on guts because we barely stopped to graze (the horses didn't want to) and they weren't drinking either. Not unusual given the torrent of rain coming down.

One thing I learned is do not trust the forecast, because that wasn't on the menu!

If you search flooding in Athens, TX you can find many recent videos circulating and news pieces as well.

When you've been getting rained on for 2 hours with thunder and lightning, sometimes a little shiny roofing material ditched on the side of the road is a little overwhelming 😂
