A golden retriever mother was chained to a wooden light pole on a rural mountain road. Starving. Weak. Unconscious. Her two tiny puppies stood beside her, barking for help. Cars sped past. No one stopped.Then a young police officer saw them. She jumped out of her jeep. She grabbed bolt cutters, cut the chain, and freed the mother. The mother didn't move. She was barely breathing.
The officer called an ambulance. She carried the mother to the hospital. She held the two puppies in her lap. Waiting. Praying.
