The Lucy Mac 5K9 is Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025 at Ascutney Outdoors!

Come celebrate 110 years of service, PLUS 10 years of the Lucy Mac 5K9 at Ascutney Outdoors on September 13th – all in support of the animals and the mission of Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society!

The Lucy Mac 5K9 offers both a timed 5K route as well as a 1-mile option. Runners and walkers can participate solo, or as a team, and enjoy the thrilling and beautiful trails of Ascutney Mountain – all in support of the animals at Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society. As always, dogs are welcome to join in on the fun!

The registration fee is $30 for the 5K trail and $20 for the 1-mile trail.

In honor of our 110th anniversary, every participant that raises at least $110 will receive a free 2025 5K9 t-shirt!

All participants completing the 5K9 will receive a custom Lucy Mac 5K9 medal!

Check-in and registration will be 9 – 10AM at the Ascutney Outdoors Center located at 449 Ski Tow Road, Brownsville, VT 05037.

Tomorrow (Saturday, 08/16/25) is an official Green Paws Plant Sale Caturday! Stop by 12 - 4PM and check-out all the lovely offerings, which will include Black Holly Hock seeds, gigantic Joe Pie W**d that is definitely much butterfly loved, yellow day lilies, hosta, elder berries and surely much, much more! Thanks to Kerry and her family, 100% of the proceeds will go towards the animals in our care! This has been a remarkable summer of Green Paws Plant Sales and thanks to the generosity of Kerry and Mark, and all those that have purchased plants, some much needed funds have been raised. Enjoy enrichment and snack time with mama Gracie and her two joeys, Frankie & Sal! Gracie is such a wonderful mother to these two little cuties. Be sure to turn up the volume to hear the unique sound they make!

We’ve been missing the terrific campers from last week’s Lucy Mac Kid’s Camp - what a fun week! It was a great week of learning, discovery, art, friendship and lots of love with the animals. We extend our immense thanks to Katie Ranney and her team of wonderful volunteers for providing such a great experience for the campers. We also would like to thank Deputy Howe and Kye from the Windsor County Sheriff's Department
for an awesome K9 demo. We hope the campers had a great experience and we’re looking forward to Kid’s Camp 2026!
