We wish all of our animals could tell us their stories, but few leave us wondering quite as much as Mama Lowes. Somewhere along the way, this beautiful girl learned that humans are something to fear. What happened to make her so afraid, we’ll likely never know. If she could talk, we’d love to ask her what she’s been through and, more importantly, what would make her feel safe in the future.

Mama Lowes is terrified of human interaction and has shown us that a traditional house cat lifestyle is not what she wants. While we respect her boundaries, we also know she deserves a safe place to call home.

Her ideal future would be as a barn cat on a property where she can roam freely, enjoy reliable food and shelter, and live life on her own terms with minimal interaction from the scary humans she’d rather avoid. In the right barn, stable, workshop, or rural property, Mama Lowes could finally settle into a life that feels comfortable and secure for her.

Not every cat dreams of cuddles on the couch. Some just want a safe place to exist, a full belly, and the freedom to be themselves. We hope there’s someone out there who can give Mama Lowes exactly that. If you think you can provide the right environment for Mama Lowes, please submit an adoption application or visit her at our Madison Lifesaving Center!

🩵 Meet Buster! 🩵

If you’re looking for a best friend who’s already mastered the art of taking life easy, Buster might just be your perfect match.

This handsome, chunky guy is around 8 years old and weighs about 43 pounds. Buster is laid back, easygoing, and happiest just hanging out with his people. He walks wonderfully on a leash, is doggy door trained, and gets along great with other dogs, making him an easy fit for many families.

While the younger dogs are busy bouncing off the walls, Buster is content to enjoy a nice stroll, a cozy bed, and some well-earned scratches. He’s proof that the older dogs still have so much love to give—they just know how to appreciate the little things in life.

Buster is currently living at our Cove Lifesaving Center, waiting for someone to see what a special boy he is.

Wow! 🤯

When we introduced our adorable poodle mixes Thaddeus and Trista, we knew people would love them, but we didn’t expect this much love! Both pups have received an incredible number of applications and already have meet-and-greets lined up!

But don’t worry, we still have another fluffy gem waiting for his happily ever after!

✨ Meet Ward ✨

At 5 months old, Ward might just have the smoothest coat of the bunch, but beneath that sleek blonde exterior is a tender-hearted sweetheart. This handsome boy can be a little shy when meeting new people or exploring new places, preferring to take things at his own pace. Once he feels safe, though, his gentle, loving personality starts to shine.

Ward would thrive in a home with a confident canine friend who can show him that the world isn’t such a scary place. Having a dog buddy by his side would help him build confidence, learn new things, and enjoy all the adventures life has to offer.

With a little patience, encouragement, and love, Ward is sure to blossom into the loyal shadow you’ve been dreaming of!

Ready to help this sweet boy find his courage and his forever family? Come meet him at our Madison Lifesaving Center!

☔️ 𝓖𝓻𝓪𝓷𝓭𝓶𝓪 𝓜𝓲𝓵𝓭𝓻𝓮𝓭’𝓼 𝓞𝓯𝓯𝓲𝓬𝓲𝓪𝓵 𝓦𝓮𝓪𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓡𝓮𝓹𝓸𝓻𝓽 ☔️

After careful investigation, Grandma Mildred has determined that she is, in fact, ready for a break from all this rain!

While some dogs dash inside at the first raindrop, Mildred took a different approach. She accepted her post-rain towel rubdown like the queen she is and honestly, we suspect it felt pretty good on those mature bones of hers.

At 10 years young, Grandma Mildred is proof that age is just a number. This sweet senior still enjoys patrolling the yard, keeping squirrels on notice, and exploring every corner of her kingdom. Her adorable old-lady grunts will keep you informed of all her opinions, and if you’re relaxing on the couch, she’ll politely request belly rubs as payment for her companionship.

Don’t let her little peg leg fool you! This girl still has plenty of s***k left! She’s house-trained, sleeps quietly in her crate, gets along with other dogs, and would be just as happy being your one and only spoiled princess.

Mildred has spent enough rainy days waiting. What she’d really love is a sunny spot on your couch, a family to adore, and a forever home where she can spend her golden years being cherished.

She is in foster but would love to meet you! Fill out a no-obligation adoption application to start the process!

UPDATE: Trista and Thaddeus have received numerous applications and have adopters lined up! Please view our other adoptable dogs here: https://anewleash.org/animals/view-adoptable-dogs/

When these puppies first came to us, their future was uncertain. This litter arrived battling parvo, a devastating and often deadly virus. Tragically, one of their siblings lost that fight while still at the shelter. But these brave babies never gave up!

Today, we’re celebrating a much happier chapter: one sibling has already found a forever home, and now Trista and Thaddeus are healthy, thriving, and ready to find families of their own!

🐶Trista (black): This girl is equal parts sugar and spice! Playful, athletic, and smart as can be, Trista loves to keep up with the boys and then curl up for some snuggles afterward. She’s potty trained, sleeps through the night in her crate, knows basic commands, and is doing great with leash and harness training. She gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children and would make an amazing addition to just about any home.

🐶Thaddeus (brown/tan): This boy is charming and easygoing. Whether you’re looking for an adventure buddy or a couch companion, he’s ready for both. He’s potty trained, crate trained, knows basic commands, and is learning leash manners like a pro. He also does great with dogs, cats, and children and has the sweetest personality.

These poodle mix pups have already overcome more in their short lives than most dogs ever should. Now all they need is the happy ending they’ve worked so hard for: a family to call their own.

Don’t wait! Puppies like Trista and Thaddeus won’t be available for long! They’ve fought hard for a second chance, and now they’re ready to fill a home with love, laughter, and companionship. If you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your family, this is the moment to act!

This sweet 1-year-old girl was really hoping this weekend would include a forever family, unlimited snacks, and a spot on someone’s couch. Instead, she’s back to supervising meetings at our Madison Lifesaving Center and waiting for THE notification.

Beluga is a gorgeous black-and-white mama cat with the softest little meow and a heart full of love. She adores people, loves attention, and has a way of making every day a little brighter just by being nearby. Whether she’s chatting about her day, asking for pets, or following you from room to room, Beluga is all about being part of the family.

Let’s help Beluga log into her forever home! See her at our Madison Lifesaving Center open Wednesdays 11-6, Thursdays-Saturdays 11-4, and Sundays 1-4.
