If one person allows jumping, another corrects it, and everyone uses different commands, your dog has to figure out which rules apply to which person.

Training works better when the household is on the same page.

At Dog Training Elite Southeast Michigan, we help families build clear, consistent communication that everyone can use.

10/29/2026

Repeating the same command over and over doesn’t automatically make it stronger.

Effective practice has structure. Your dog needs a clear expectation, good timing, and consistent follow-through so they can understand what you’re asking and repeat the right behavior.

Practice with intention, not just repetition.

It’s easy to dismiss jumping, nipping, chewing, and other unwanted behaviors as “just puppy stuff.”

But waiting doesn’t teach your puppy what you want them to do instead.

Puppyhood is your opportunity to start building good habits, clear expectations, and the skills you want your dog to carry into adulthood.

Start building those foundations with Dog Training Elite Southeast Michigan.

Pumpkin season is here, and your dog can get in on it too.

Plain pumpkin can be offered in moderation, but skip pumpkin pie filling and anything with added sugar or spices.

And if your dog loves it? A small amount might be just the motivation you need during your next training session.

10/27/2026

If your dog seems more anxious lately, look at what’s changed around them.

Shorter days, more time indoors, and shifts in your family’s routine can all change what your dog experiences day to day.

Pay attention to when the behavior happens, what comes before it, and what has changed. Those patterns can help you understand what your dog needs to work on.

Need help with your dog’s behavior? Contact Dog Training Elite Southeast Michigan.

Name recognition, focus, and basic commands are a great start. But puppy training doesn’t stop once your dog learns “sit.”

The next step is building consistency and helping those skills hold up around distractions and in everyday life.

Fall is a natural reset point: new routines, cooler weather, and a fresh chance to get consistent with the basics.

Use the change of season to revisit the skills your dog already knows and practice them in everyday situations.

What’s one command you wish your dog listened to better?

10/25/2026

Training shouldn’t only work when the environment is perfectly controlled.

This family practiced one-on-one at home and then took those skills into parks and other environments where distractions are part of real life. For their energetic, easily distracted border collie, that real-world practice helped them see progress in a short amount of time.

Thank you for trusting Dog Training Elite Southeast Michigan with your pup!

10/24/2026

This is what real-world progress looks like.

For River, that meant walking without pulling, listening to commands, and better behavior around everyday situations like the front door. For his family, it meant seeing a completely different side of their dog.

Way to go, River! We’re grateful your family chose Dog Training Elite Southeast Michigan.
