Meet Laudi! 🥰🥰🥰

Before her upcoming cataract surgery, Laudi visited our ophthalmology service for a special test called an ERG (electroretinogram). An ERG checks out how well the retina (the “film” on the back of the eye) is working. This quick and painless test helps Dr. Kline ensure Laudi’s eyes are ready for surgery and that her vision can truly improve.

We can’t wait to see Laudi’s bright new view of the world soon! 👁️ 🐕 👁️

RECALL ALERT - Foodynamics is voluntarily recalling specific lots of Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, and Kanu Pets brand freeze dried pet treats because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recalled products were shipped from Wisconsin via UPS to retailers in Wisconsin, New York, and Florida. A total of 7 packages were distributed to consumers in these areas. Foodynamics successfully traced 100% of the product distribution within hours of the recall notice and has contacted all direct customers. MORE: https://bit.ly/3KLu82g

Our techs are superheroes in scrubs! ….running anesthesia, monitoring critical patients, calming nervous pets, placing IVs, drawing blood, taking X-rays, assisting in surgery, comforting clients, cleaning up messes big and small, and more! They do it all!

FDA Advisory: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is cautioning pet owners that one FDA sample of Darwin’s Natural Pet Products dog food made by Arrow Reliance, Inc. tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes (L. mono) and a second FDA sample tested positive for Salmonella and L. mono. The FDA conducted this testing as part of follow up on a consumer complaint.

Affected products are sold online through a subscription service in frozen 2-pound packages and consist of certain lots of Darwin’s BioLogics All-Natural & Grain-Free Beef Recipe for Dogs. MORE: https://bit.ly/4pLQYH6

VMC NOW OFFERING OPHTHALMOLOGY SERVICES — beginning in September!

Dr. Kyle Kline, DVM, DACVO joins VMC Lakewood Ranch as a veterinary ophthalmologist with comprehensive training in ocular medicine and surgery. Originally from Chicago, she completed her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, earned her veterinary degree from Colorado State University, then completed an ophthalmology residency at a practice in Florida. In her personal time, Dr. Kline enjoys long-distance running and spending time near the ocean.

Dr. Kline provides comprehensive medical management for a wide range of eye conditions in pets including dry eye, glaucoma, corneal ulceration, uveitis, and more. In addition to ocular diagnostics and medical therapies, she offers specialized surgical care when needed. Her surgical expertise includes correcting eyelid abnormalities that cause irritation or discomfort, repairing third eyelid gland prolapse ("cherry eye"), removal of ocular tumors, performing corneal grafting and ulceration repair, restoring vision through cataract surgery, and managing glaucoma or other painful eye diseases.

From routine medical care to specialized ocular surgeries, Dr. Kline is dedicated to preserving vision and ensuring ocular comfort for your pets! ❤️

Meet Dr. Sarah Neill! 🐾

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Sarah Neill, our newest veterinarian, to the team!

Dr. Neill is a Sarasota native and a graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Neill wanted to be a veterinarian from a very young age. When she was younger, she participated in 4H events where she showed both horses and dairy cattle. She loves both large animal and small animal medicine, and brings to VMC a strong foundation in patient care. She has a special interest in dermatology and also holds multiple Fear Free veterinary certifications.

She’s passionate about building lasting relationships with pets and their people, and we’re so excited for you to meet her! 💙
