VMC has an expansive in-house laboratory! 🔬 In this photo, Alyssa, one of our ER technicians, is examining a sample under the microscope to help our doctors get important answers fast.

From bloodwork to cytology and other diagnostic testing, our in-house lab allows us to evaluate samples right away. This means we can diagnose and treat pets quickly when every minute counts.

We are excited to announce that Dr. Alix Saavedra, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology), will be joining our team full time in September 2026!

Dr. Saavedra was first introduced to our hospital through colleagues on our surgery and emergency teams, both of whom spoke very highly of her. We are so glad these connections brought her to our hospital.

Dr. Saavedra is a board-certified veterinary cardiologist with advanced training and expertise in cardiology, as well as a special interest in interventional cardiology. We are excited to be adding cardiology services to our specialty team and know she will be a wonderful addition to our hospital.

Dr. Saavedra is looking forward to caring for the pets and families in our community! More information to come...
