Bruno, you're officially part of the Braden River family now!

This little peanut spent the day with us and completely stole our hearts. He's a chill dude who likes to observe from the sidelines. We often found him sitting in our treatment area taking notes like a tiny undercover agent - we're not sure what he's planning, but we're intrigued.

Bruno's got the whole friendly thing down pat, playing nice with the doggy crew and kitty clique, and let's be real, his party trick of sitting up like a mini human is ridiculously adorable (see video in comments.)

We're looking forward to watching Bruno grow up❤️

CAUTION They are back!

Cane (Bufo) toads are highly toxic and pose a lethal threat to pets in Florida, especially during warm, rainy months. If your pet licks, bites, or swallows one, poisoning can occur in as little as 15 minutes.

Symptoms of Toad Poisoning in Pets

If a pet interacts with a toad, symptoms will appear almost immediately. Look out for the following:

Excessive drooling or foaming at the mouth
Extremely red, brick-red, or pale gums
Pawing at the mouth or shaking the head
Disoriented, frantic, or stumbling behavior
Seizures, convulsions, or muscle twitching
Difficulty breathing or irregular heartbeats

Emergency Action Plan

Act FAST to protect your pet's life. Rinse the mouth immediately: Use a running hose to continuously flush out your pet's mouth for 10-15 minutes. Direct water OUTWARD: Keep your pet's head facing downward so they do not swallow the milky white. You can also immediately use a damp cloth, towel, or old rag to wipe the gums, tongue, and roof of the mouth for 10 minutes.

Go to the nearest emergency veterinarian immediately, as Bufo poisoning can be fatal very quickly.
