🎣 Steven Wasn't Supposed to Be the Catch of the Day! 🐱

One-year-old feline Steven, found Dad's fishing gear and decided it looked like the perfect toy. Unfortunately, while having a grand old time batting around the lures, a couple of fish hooks had other plans and nearly made Steven the catch of the day!

After a not-so-fun fishing adventure, Steven came to see us, where Dr. Fellman and our medical team carefully removed the embedded hooks and repaired injuries to his right leg and thigh. Thankfully, this handsome boy was in excellent hands and is expected to make a full recovery. ❤️

Fishing tackle, sewing supplies, string, ribbon, and other household items can pose serious risks to curious cats. Keeping these items safely stored away can help prevent an unexpected trip to the veterinarian.

🌡️☀️ Florida Heat Alert! ☀️🌡️

With the heat index reaching 100°+ across our area, it's important to remember that if you're hot, your pets are feeling it too!

🐾 Pet Safety Tips for Extreme Heat:

✅ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.
✅ Always provide fresh, cool water and plenty of shade.
✅ Limit strenuous exercise during the hottest parts of the day.
✅ Test the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your pet's paws.
✅ Never leave pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes. Leaving the windows cracked is not enough.
✅ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting
• Bright red gums
• Collapse

🐶 Certain pets are at even greater risk, including puppies, senior pets, overweight pets, brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, etc.), and pets with heart or respiratory conditions.

🚨 Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If your pet is showing signs of overheating, move them to a cool area, offer water, apply cool (not ice-cold) water to their body, and contact your veterinarian immediately.

🐾 The Best Seat in the House! 🐾

Sweet, 1 year old Chihuahua, Gigi recently spent the day with us while Dr. Berarducci performed her spay procedure. During her recovery, she claimed the best seat in the hospital—a cozy teddy bear throne fit for a princess! 💕🐶

While Gigi was enjoying some post-op TLC, she was also receiving the many lifelong health benefits that come with being spayed:

Big or small, we love them all! 🐾🐾 Seniors! Best pupper Bruno prefers that we just refer to him as 'experienced.' He definitely makes the golden years look good🥰

Bruno, you're officially part of the Braden River family now!

This little peanut spent the day with us and completely stole our hearts. He's a chill dude who likes to observe from the sidelines. We often found him sitting in our treatment area taking notes like a tiny undercover agent - we're not sure what he's planning, but we're intrigued.

Bruno's got the whole friendly thing down pat, playing nice with the doggy crew and kitty clique, and let's be real, his party trick of sitting up like a mini human is ridiculously adorable (see video in comments.)

We're looking forward to watching Bruno grow up❤️
