🐾 Meet Duck, our determined pup in progress! 🦆💪

When he first waddled into our Board & Train program, Duck had a bit of everything - food possession, leash pulling, hand nipping, jumping on people, and some seriously selective hearing. 😅

Now? He’s learning that good dogs get the best snacks, walks are teamwork, and ears aren’t just for decoration. 👂🐶

Big changes are happening, and we’re just getting started! 🌟

“Wallen” is a great example of obedience only being part of the puzzle when it comes to reactivity and behavior modification. He already knows all of his basics and is pretty good at them, but that all goes out the window as soon as he sees another dog. He is explosively reactive!

His mindset needs an overhaul so he can start to learn how to relax with other dogs around and to stay engaged with his owner. We have lots of work to do, but are excited to see him learn better social skills!

We are so proud of “Iinii” and his owner for all of the work they have put in! 👏 He came to us very reactive towards both people and dogs. They had done quite a bit of prior training, but had still not successfully worked through these behaviors. Iinii is a very big and very powerful German Shepherd, and he takes his self-appointed job of protecting his mom very seriously! These behaviors were leading to a lot of anxiety and uncertainty, which made it very difficult or impossible for him to be in social situations.

After a series of lessons and a Board & Train, the confidence and control that Iinii and his owner have built are truly awesome! They have both been able to do so many things they never would have dreamed of before, and last night, he got to be a brewery pup for the first time. 🥰🍺

“Toast” 🐈‍⬛ is one special kitty when it comes to training for the Board & Train pups. She regularly joins in on training sessions which helps the dogs work on their impulse control and focus around a MAJOR distraction! And yes, she knows all of the same commands as the dogs! 😝

“Adonis” sure lives up to his name! 😍 This 6 month old Border Collie pup has been working on his confidence and overall manners. He is a little guy, but true to his breed, he knew how to run the show! His owners were struggling with possessive behaviors, a non-existent recall, and reactivity towards new people. He’s been building his confidence and working on his social skills all around town. We are so proud of this boy for the progress he has made and love to see him feeling more confident each day! 💙

At only 8 months old, “Libby” is full of puppy energy… with a little extra GSP craziness thrown in! 🤪 She had zero focus around distractions and was wild and out of control on leash🐕‍🦺, at thresholds🚪,and when greeting people 👋. She is a worker and has been having so much fun learning how to use her brain. Check out her focus only one week into her training! 👀

We have a few new Board & Train pups to introduce this week, and “Red” is up first! 👋🐕

He is a 1.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog who is a very sweet boy, but he can be a bit mouthy and will nip when excited or unsure. He knows a few basic commands already, but needs help with his overall consistency and leash manners. He is looking ready to learn! 💪

Sugarman, Oden, and Hazel are three of our recent Board & Train graduates. They all struggled with one of the most common issues we see: dog reactivity. 🦮

So often, this behavior is rooted in uncertainty and/or miscommunication. We love watching these dogs become a more confident version of themselves who know how to better navigate these situations! Xyla and Zion, two of our current Board & Trains, took their first field trip to downtown Bozeman today! 🚙 These two came to us with little to no experience being on leash, so they were very nervous in new environments, barked lots at new things, and pulled like crazy. 😵‍💫

They have both really enjoyed channeling their energy and focus into training, and were on their best behavior yesterday. It has been awesome to see their sweet personalities start to shine through as their confidence has grown! 😍
