Labrador's do not quit!

Texas Game Warden K9 Lola, her handler and a pilot with our Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program assisted local and state law enforcement partners in Erath County today following an escape from the jail.

Starting from the suspect’s discarded pants, Lola followed his scent for more than a mile, across streets, past businesses and down alleys, until they reached the Bosque River. Turns out, ditching your pants doesn’t equal ditching your scent when you have a pro like K9 Lola on your trail.

She easily led her handler to the suspect on the other side of the river. He was subsequently taken back into custody by the Erath County Sheriff’s Office.

Outstanding work by everyone involved in bringing the incident to a safe conclusion. (And yes, Lola got a bath.)

💛 Sandy is waiting for her second chance. 💛

Meet Sandy, a beautiful 2-year-old, 58-pound spayed German Shepherd with so much love left to give.

Last month, Sandy thought she had finally found her forever home. Sadly, things didn't work out, and through no fault of her own, she found herself back at the shelter. It's heartbreaking to watch such a wonderful dog have to start all over again.

Sandy is still a young girl with lots of life ahead of her. She loves nothing more than being outside, chasing toys, stretching her legs, and running with pure joy. She's playful, affectionate, and has a heart that's just waiting for someone to believe in her.

Like many young German Shepherds, Sandy is still learning. She'll thrive with an owner who can provide guidance, consistency, and loving boundaries. With a little patience and training, there's no doubt she'll grow into an incredible lifelong companion.

Sandy gets along with most dogs, but we do require a meet and greet with any potential canine siblings to make sure everyone is a good match.

Every dog deserves a place to call home, and Sandy deserves someone who won't give up on her. She doesn't need a perfect family—she just needs one willing to love her, teach her, and give her the chance she's been waiting for.
