Meet Lucy. Lucy is an 11 year-old Italian Greyhound who came in for a second opinion exam for swelling under her jaw. A salivary mucocele diagnosis was confirmed and surgery was scheduled shortly after with Dr. Peyton.
Mucoceles are best treated by removing the swelling (pseudocyst) and both the mandibular and sublingual salivary glands from the affected side. Lucy underwent a tailored anesthetic protocol based on her health conditions and risk factors. She was monitored closely by our technicians during her procedure and received lots of TLC during her recovery. Look how cute she was in her bandage after surgery! 😊
Lucy recently came in for her post-op exam and she is fully recovered and back to normal.
