⭐️Please help us WELCOME our resident Dr. Stephanie Straw! ⭐️

Dr. Stephanie Straw discovered her passion for veterinary medicine early on, working as a veterinary assistant in high school and later as a veterinary technician during her undergraduate studies. While earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from California Lutheran University, she spent two summers in the Amazon rainforest researching squirrel monkey behavior.

Dr. Straw earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University in 2023. Following graduation, she completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at WestVet Boise 24/7 Animal Emergency and Specialty Center. Dr. Straw joined Eye Care for Animals in July 2025 and will complete her residency program at the Lee Summit, MO and Chicago, IL practices. Outside of work, she enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, gardening, and riding her bike with her dog.

We are so happy to have her here and look forward to our clients/patients getting to meet her! 🩵

National ZOO LOVERS Day!

Zoos are one of the most popular tourist attractions no matter where you travel! Many of these parks serve as breeding centers. They are relied upon when species are endangered or at risk of becoming endangered. Zoos help provide education to the public about a broad variety of animals and their habitats.

Here are some fun EYE facts about animals you might find at your local zoo!!

*GIRAFFES have the biggest eyeballs of ALL land mammals! They are roughly the size of a golf ball.🦒
*FLAMINGOES eye color changes/fluctuates based on their diet, just like their feathers!🦩
*LIONS pupil size is THREE TIMES BIGGER than humans🦁
*LEOPARDS can see SEVEN TIMES BETTER than humans at night!
*CHEETAHS have black tear marks that reduce glare and help them focus on prey🐆

Next time you visit your local zoo (hopefully soon!), take a look at each animal's unique and interesting eyes!! 👀👀👀

We love good vibes and getting feedback from our clients! 🫶🏼 🤩

Happy National K9 Veteran's Day!!

This is a day to honor the service and sacrifices of American military and working dogs.
March 13, 1942, the Army began training for its new War Dog Program, the "K-9 Corps", marking the first time that dogs were officially a part of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Military dogs are important members of their units. They have their own retirement ceremonies, awards/medals, and memorial services.
These photos show just a few of the K9 heroes who have had a large impact during their service throughout the years.

We extend a big heartfelt thank you to all of our veteran K9 service members for their dedication to their training, service, and partners.
