See some new faces at the reception desk? Meet Bella and Luna! These two 6-month-old sisters are looking for their forever homes. Bella is the adventurous sister who loves to talk and play with toys. Luna is mellower - she spends her time watching the TV in the lobby and LOVES Churu treats. Both girls are very affectionate and curious. They are up to date on all of their vaccinations and they are also spayed and microchipped. These lovely ladies are available to be adopted together or separate. Come by and say hi anytime during our business hours!

It’s National Veterinary Technician Appreciation week!

National Veterinary Technician Week is celebrated October 12-18 this year and is not only meant to celebrate and appreciate veterinary technicians but also educate the public about what they do.

Did you know? Vet techs perform the same skills as a human nurse. A typical day as a vet tech is often busy accomplishing many tasks that promote animal health and wellbeing. These tasks can include caring for a sick pets, filling and administering medications, monitoring anesthesia, assisting in surgical procedures, performing dental cleanings, placing intravenous catheters, collecting blood, taking x-rays, processing and analyzing lab samples, educating clients, and so much more!”

Lakewood Animal Health Center is thrilled to welcome Dr. Shannon Davies to the team! Dr. Davies will begin seeing patients on November 3rd, 2025.

Dr. Shannon Davies received both her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri-Columbia, graduating in 2021. Her professional interests include managing allergies and other dermatologic conditions, behavior, and supporting families through end-of-life and quality-of-life care decisions. She is passionate about client communication and helping pet owners feel informed and supported throughout their pet’s care.

Dr. Davies shares her home with her Golden Retriever, Tipsy, who was originally her patient in veterinary school. Tipsy was surrendered due to a Neospora infection that caused cerebellar atrophy, leaving her with a goofy, uncoordinated gait - but also making her the perfect companion. She also has a spirited tortoiseshell cat named Kahlua. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Davies enjoys reading, hiking and exploring the outdoors, and caring for her many houseplants. She especially enjoys helping clients discover safe, pet-friendly plant options to brighten their homes.
