Before I tell you all about myself (hey, I’m Pepper!), I think you should hear about my rescue story...so get the tissues ready! 💕

I was found wandering around a parking lot in Georgia, barking at people and trying to get someone’s attention. One kind human finally understood and decided to follow me...

There, they found my friend,Tony.

He was lying on the ground, so weak he couldn’t stand. He was dangerously emaciated and severely anemic. His condition was critical, and he needed an emergency blood transfusion. ❤️‍🩹 Now a dog doesn’t know all those terms but I sure knew my fellow canine needed help and I was the one who was going to get it!

A team of amazing people rallied around him, and thankfully, the transfusion was successful. Tony got his second chance.🎉 And a shout-out to that kind person who listened to just a little pup like me! Without our teamwork, his story could have ended very differently.

So...now let me tell you about ME! 😌

I’m Pepper, an 11-month-old, 34-pound Lab mix, and I’m clearly 100% a good girl. I’m a little shy at first, but a few treats 🍪 and a little time will have me burrowing my head into you like we’re old friends.

I am:

✅ Crate, house & leash-trained

✅ Good with dogs

✅ Good with kids (6+)

I’m happy, playful, and love being outside! 🌿 A fenced yard would be wonderful, but what I really want is a family who will let me be close to them.

I’ve also had successful surgery for distichiasis 👀, thanks to our amazing veterinary partners at Metro, and my eyes are doing great!

I helped change Tony’s story. Now I’m hoping someone will help change mine.

Not to brag, but I think I’ve earned a happy ending, don’t you? 🏡

"I adopted Gunnar as a puppy from HAL in August of 2024. I went to one meet and greet and couldn’t leave without him. The coolest part of his story is he unexpectedly got to reunite with his litter mate Maggie! She was adopted to a family nearby and they showed up at the same daycare! Gunnar is still so sweet and silly and wiggly even though he’s a BIG 75lbs now! He’s been the best companion and I can’t imagine life without him."

HELLLOOOOO! 👋

Cammie is in the house! And it’s all about me for the next 1-2 minutes of your day! 😏

I’m a 6-year old Cane Corso. I’m 90 lbs. full of opinions...and snacks.

I am:
✅ Crate, house & leash-trained (make me stand still on the leash though and I’ll have some problems with dogs!)
❓ Dog-selective (I’m okay with them as long as they don’t try to steal my throne 👑)
🚫 No cats
✅ Good with kids (6+)

I was found as a stray in Philly and was pretty underweight. I did everything I could to take care of my puppies and be the best mama so now it’s my turn to be the STAR!

I’m a very silly, happy girl with a cute little nub that NEVER stops wagging, the best facial expressions, and a toothy smile I like to show off whenever my favorite people walk into the room. 😁 Basically, I’m GORGEOUS!
I also consider myself a professional couch companion. 😇 I didn’t understand cuddling when I first arrived, but I’ve since discovered that putting my giant head in your lap is actually VERY nice. You’re welcome.

I love my toys, sunbathing ☀️ and a few daily zoomies—but when I take off, you’d better clear the runway because I’m a whole lotta dog!

Now every high power lady needs some pampering. I have some allergies and have had some ear infections, but my family has found medication and a special diet that keep me comfortable. And while I can’t eat every protein, I have discovered blueberries, sweet potatoes and MARSHMALLOWS. I’m clearly not starving...🫐🍠

I can live with the right dog, but I’m particular about sharing my treasures, so a solo home may be my ideal situation. I need an experienced Cane Corso home that understands my big personality and my history.

I know I embody boss babe energy 💁‍♀️ but underneath it all, I’m just a girl who wants her person, her couch, her toys, and a sunny spot to call her own. 💜

Clover is only about a year old, but she’s already been through more than any dog should. 💔

She arrived at one of our partner shelters in South Carolina with a deep, fresh wound around her neck. Because she came in wearing very loose collars, the shelter doesn’t believe a collar caused it. We will probably never find out what did.

With our southern partners overflowing with dogs, we were thrilled that we secured a foster through HAL so that we could get her some amazing veterinary care and free up a spot for the shelter!

Despite everything, Clover is incredibly loving. Now she needs time, medical care, and your support to heal. Please consider donating to help Clover and other dogs get the care they deserve.

For now, Clover's only job is to heal. She just arrived in Pennsylvania this past weekend so she won't be available for adoption for at least a few weeks. We will let you all know when she's available! 🤍
