Memorial Day Weekend Reminder 🐾

Steinbach Veterinary Hospital will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

As we head into the holiday weekend, please take a moment to check your pet’s medications, prescription food, preventatives, and any other essentials they may need. If your pet is running low, we kindly ask that you place refill requests now so our team has time to prepare them before the long weekend.

Holiday weekends can get busy, and we want to help make sure your pets have everything they need while we’re closed. 🐶🐱💙

☀️ Hot weekend ahead — let’s keep our pets safe! 🐾

Temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s this weekend, and while many of us are ready for sunshine, our pets can overheat much faster than we realize.

Before you head outside, remember these warm-weather safety tips:

💧 Keep fresh, cool water available at all times
🌳 Make sure pets have access to shade when outdoors
🚶‍♀️ Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening
🐾 Check the pavement before walks — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes
🥵 Watch for signs of overheating like heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, or collapse

Flat-faced breeds, senior pets, overweight pets, puppies, kittens, and pets with heart or breathing conditions may be especially vulnerable in hot weather.

If your pet seems overheated, move them to a cooler area, offer water, and contact a veterinary team right away.

Stay cool, Steinbach — and give your pets an extra water bowl refill this weekend! 🐶🐱💙

Dr. King’s patients literally jump on the exam table to see him and get their pets 🐾💙😄

The second he walks into the room, it’s all tail wags, kisses, excitement, and “OMG HI DR. KING” energy. Some pets may come for treats… but we’re pretty sure a lot of them come to see their favorite vet.

Watching the relationships Dr. King builds with his patients is one of our favorite things. He treats every pet like they’re his own, and they definitely know it 🐶
