Meet Jillian Hoag!
Freshman, Animal and Poultry Science
Hometown: Newtown, CT
Horse: Dark Secret “Cricket”
“I am a freshman majoring in Animal and Poultry Science! I have had Cricket for about 4 years and we have evened through beginner novice!”

Jillian’s favorite thing about being in EVT is being part of the horse community at Virginia Tech!

Fun fact: Cricket is a friesian sport horse who was Amish bred in Ohio!

Meet Lila Cafferata!
Freshman, Human Development
Hometown: Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
Horse: White Wedding “Bowie”
“I grew up competing in the hunter/jumpers and did a bit of fun eventing in the summers. I got Bowie in 2023. He was the first horse I tried and absolutely fell in love with him and his silly personality from the moment we met! His character reminded me exactly of my horse at lost in 2019, so I knew straight away he was the one! We’ve been on many adventures in Kentucky, South Carolina, and now Virginia! We don’t compete very seriously, mostly just for fun, but I’m excited to try some more eventing with him and the team!”

Lila’s favorite thing about being in EVT is meeting new people with the same love of horses!

Fun Fact: Bowie is obsessed with candy but his favorite snack is sour skittles!
