This is a post we had hoped we wouldn’t need to make for a very long time. On New Year’s Day, we said goodbye to our very special boy, Charlie.

Many of you have been part of Charlie’s journey from the very beginning. When he first came to us, he was in rough shape and was never meant to stay—but he quickly made himself at home and in our hearts. Weighing just 6 pounds and covered in painful matting, missing most of his teeth, deaf, and dealing with severe ear issues, Charlie still carried an undeniable spark. He was fearless, spunky, and full of personality. No dog intimidated him, and no day at the clinic felt complete without him.

Charlie made it his job to supervise—whether from the front desk chair, Jan’s chair, or by inserting himself into appointments as if he were part of the team. In many ways, he truly was.

To allow our staff time to grieve and reflect, HVC will be closed on Friday, January 2. We will resume regular business hours on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Thank you for your continued support, kindness, and understanding during this difficult time. Charlie will always be a part of HVC. 🐾
