The holiday season can be a magical yet challenging time for some of our kiddos as the bright lights, loud music, crowded gatherings, and changes to routine may lead to sensory overload. To help, try creating a structured plan that includes quieter, predictable activities and opportunities for sensory breaks. Providing noise-canceling headphones, sunglasses, or a favorite comfort item can help reduce sensory input.

Preparing your child in advance by discussing what to expect and offering choices can empower them to feel more in control. It's important to stay flexible and responsive to their needs, ensuring the holidays remain enjoyable and stress-free for everyone.✨❄️

Biddeford Recreation is SO EXCITED for our inaugural Trunk or Treat event this Friday, October 25th! Here are some reminders and tips for our attendees to make sure you have the best experience at this event:

This event will be held at the parking area adjacent to the Steve White Gym at Biddeford High School and will run from 5:30-7:45pm.

Parking is available in the school parking lots across the street. For safety reasons, no parking will be allowed in the Trunk or Treat event area which will be closed to vehicle access during the event.

Special notes on driving and safety: you may enter and exit through either outlet of Maplewood Drive. Please drive slowly and be aware of pedestrians crossing the street to and from the parking lot.

Don’t forget to dress in costume and bring your own Halloween candy carrying bag!
Please make sure to visit each trunk and help our judges choose the best trunk!

Very cool! We're pumped for the opening of the new Rachel Carson visitor center building in Kennebunk- It'll be awesome to have a space for learning about wildlife, exploring the exhibit hall, nature store and more. 🌾🌾🌿

The Community Playground Build is complete, and we are so excited to share photos of our work throughout this past week at Rotary Park!

As you visit the parks, here are some of the new features you will find: the playground in the grove picnic area was expanded to include a new play structure and an additional swing set; this space will open on Tuesday, October 8th.

We hope you enjoy these outdoor recreational spaces and new opportunities for play in our parks!

Welcome, young adventurers! Come and join in on an exciting quest in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. Open to new and experienced players alike. We will typically meet on Monday's from 3:30-4:30 P.M. However some holidays may alter the schedule. You’re welcome to bring in a character from a previous game, to make a new one, or to use one of the pre-made characters provided in the starter set. All other supplies will be provided, just bring your imagination! This event is free, wheelchair accessible, and open to Teens ages 10 and up. New players are encouraged to join in on the adventure. If you have any questions, see Miss Emmaline downstairs in the children’s room.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Get to know your neighbors and local law enforcement agencies while you enjoy a fun evening of free family-friendly activities, including games, food, touch-a-truck and more! There will also be a special Tuesday-night edition of the free Music in the Park concert series, featuring live music from The Twangtown Paramours, an award-winning husband and wife 'Soulful Americana' duo from Nashville. We hope to see you there!
